Default Report: WWE May Not Be Renewing Many Legend's Contracts

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE might not not be renewing many of the legend's contracts which are set to expire this year. The legend's deals are mostly in place for marketing reasons, and allow WWE the exclusive right to sell certain legend's merchandise. In some cases, the legend's deals prevent wrestlers from working with rival wrestling promotions.

That or possibly different wrestling conventions across the country. For some "Legends", Honky Tonk Man for example, doing a few dates for $10k per event(don't know, just plucked a number out of thin air) is more economical than locking into an exclusive contract for less over a possibly longer period of time.

They don't have to be working for them, they just have contracts signed to say WWE can bring them out as figurines and put them in games and the like.

But who would they be? I haven't collected a WWE figure in the past 2-3 years, so I have no clue who's figure as come out. All I can think of are the ones that appearance in the recent Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 game. I really don't see why they are put on contract just to have them in a game, LOL.
