Seems like it is finally getting off the grond after a couple of law suits and many many years of rewrites!
As far as i know its to begin shooting in September and Chris Casamassa is the only one reprising his role (he was Scorpion in Mk1 and Conquest)
It will probaly fall through again but thought some of you out there might like to know!

Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 were both amazing. I enjoyed 2 more though. Really looking forward to seeing what they put into the third one. :D

Close they a doing an Incredible Hulk on it and its semi reboot semi sequel!
Originally they were gonna have the events of MK2 be a dream so they could bring back Cage but since Mk2 failed at the box office they were gonna use that ending in season 2 of Mk:Conquest to explain why season 1 ended the way it did!
Then when Mink came on to direct it he did a complete overhaul of everything and had the script re-written when ever it was finished as he wanted to explore ALL of the Mk mythos to see who works better on screen and which stories melded better etc he also had Robin Shou, Christopher Lambert and Linden Ashby ready to sign contracts and to start filming in thailand, then the writers strike happened Mink got bored of waiting and left and it got put on stand by again.

You are the first person other than me to admit the second was better. I loved how they included a lot of new characters not seen in the first movie. I still watch both all of the time too. I can't wait for the third movie - been waiting on since they first announced it - YEARS AGO!
Though, I wish the main cast were returning instead of recasting all of the roles except for one.

Mortal kombat was good though not exactly a great film. Annihilation however was a horrible horrible movie, to the point of making Catwoman look like a piece of cinematic brilliance!
Hopefully either a Semi-reboot (i.e 1 happened 2 didn't) or full reboot and actually draw on more of the series legacy e.g Subzero and Scorpions rivalry.

They did mention the rivalry in Mk1 and in Mk2 they just took it for granted that everyone knew why Scorpion was after Sub-Zero.....they took alot for granted in that movie!
Cyrax should have been more bad ass!

Not really it was like a sentence or 2. I mean they should go in it properly act as though the audience does not know as thats the best way to make a film based on something.

Really needed no mentions of the rivalries. True fans know the back stories, and if they don't they can easily find out.

But that is the problem. They need it to show it for people who have not seen it as it's important.

to represent a GOOD story in a Mk movie would take time, i mean to explain all about the Lin Kuei Sub-Zero and Scorpions stories properly would take a decent amount of screen time. Mk:Conquest started explaining it but only got about 3-4 episodes into that mytho.
