I can't believe no one made this!
The movie was released in theatres on July 15th.
Who has seen the movie?
Those who hasn't seen it, when are you guys going to see it?
Anyways, I have seen the movie the other day (Monday). It was very good.

One word: DISSAPOINTING!!!!!
SPOILERS AHEAD!
Seriously.. I expected so much more of this movie.
I mean, they cut out the battle of hogwarts! I knew they would do that, but still! And they cut out Dumbledore's funeral too! I was like -__-
This movie had too much "love" and "Love potions" for me..it should've been called "Harry Potter and the love potions" >_>
Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie, but it was SOOOOO dissapointing! Probably because I read the book, but still! O.o I excpected so much more of it really.

I was thinking of making a thread on this lol, good call Jay.
Hmm anywho, I've seen this and before I say anything, I'll say that no disappointment can match up to the previous Order of the Phoenix movie. That being said, I kept my expectations not too high (despite the trailers) and ended up actually enjoying it. The beginning was rough, with them as usual leaving it up to you to figure out what forsaken scene they suddenly cut to this time around. But the transition became smoother as the film progressed.... though they still at times focused on a scene longer than usual.
I liked the ways in which it differed from the book since it allowed for a better form of storytelling more fitting with the movies. Some things though, I'm kinda against:
SPOILERS!
Horace Slughorn: What's wrong with this guy? I'll start with the basics. The guy's supposed to be fatter than the actor was, and had a moustache. Onto the character, his constant praising of Lily's mother was what gave Harry the idea to attack him on the subject when forcing the memory out of him in the books. Instead Slughorn treated him like any other student (albeit one who was a pure genius). He was supposed to be more flattering and I somehow expected his chats to be more animated. Broadbent was still while speaking to the point where I began to think his acting sucked. Well, it wasn't up to the par IMO for the most part of the movie.
Neither was Bonnie Wright's. Her portrayal of Ginny was sorta weak. I expected her to be stronger than that and the only real moment of that was when she subdued the Quidditch team for Harry, or approached Harry at the bottom of the staircase if you can count that. Just didn't seem the same.
One change for the better was Hagrid's character. No offense to anyone who loves that about him, but over the top tears (at Aragog's funeral for example) and pink umbrellas are not tough to part with lol. His character was relatively stronger and not as much of a doofus as the books make him out to be.
I don't get the whole over-love thingy. True it was more than the other movies/books here but it wasn't like it was overshadowing everything. They only showed the important parts (not talking about Lav-Lav/Won-Won here...) and since quite a bit of it was in the books, didn't seem that out of place to me. If i'm not forgetting in fact, Harry and Ginny never really got together in the movie
Some things they should've elaborated on: The half blood prince and Harry's curiosity/Hermione's jealousy (or animosity) about the person using the name, and obviously Dumbledore's death. The scene, aside from Snape uttering the curse, Dumbledore falling and the following scene, was all done wrong. The flashing wands scene was a great touch of honour to Dumbledore though. Harry was supposed, and should have been tied up with the Body-Bind Curse at the top of the tower. Mr. Hero, the protagonist of the movie, ran away from Dumbledore even when he knew the guy was weakened with some wacky potion. Harry heard Snape telling Malfoy he made an unbreakable vow to protect Malfoy's life, and yet was content with just witnessing Dumbledore's apparent death, with Snape by his side, without protest. Seemed mega-odd to me.. or maybe I missed the part where Harry trusts Snape with anything.
Quidditch was greatly done, nice return for the game; and I actually went "whoa" at one of Ron's saves, though it was probably the accidental one :p Great stuff, that anyways. Though it would've been nice to see when Harry, the captain, missed the game to do detention with Snape (another nod to his apparent evilness) and of course, another loose end tied up after that, the common room scene would've confirmed Harry and Ginny were going out.
All in all, I'd rate it somewhere between 7 to 8 out of 10.

It was good but I was expecting more with Dumbledore's death. Harry should've been more emotional when chasing after Snape. This really was just set up for Deathly Hallows.

My big problem was Snape. Alan Rickman is great as the slimy, silent, emotionless, evil-incarnate Snape, but when Harry tried to use the spell on him, Snape should have actually been angry. At best, he sounded...mildly perturbed. Also, the end scene with the wand lighting is probably the closest a movie has brought me to tears in 10 years. (I'm 16, btw)

Having finished the book this past Christmas I couldn't wait to see this movie. My friends and I went to the midnight showing opening night, I was greatly disappointed. I enjoyed the humor and the teen angst but, that is not what the book is about. This movie acted as a filler or a calm before the storm for the Deathly Hallows. Whereas the book was it's own story and the last few chapters setup for the finale.
-I hated the fact they barely went into Tom Riddle's beginnings (This is very important)
-Hardly played up the Half Blood Prince, so when Snape reveals he is the prince it doesn't have the same impact
-Where was the fight scene?
-One of the greatest wizards dies and it's treated it in a matter of the fact way.
I still like the Harry Potter series but this was one my least favorite movies. Felt like One Tree Hill with magic in the background.

They skipped the Gaunts aspect and all, which should've been there I agree. But I personally found that part from the book the most boring one.

Well put. It makes people wonder why the movie was named HP and the Half-Blood Prince.
-Where was the fight scene?
Which one? The Harry-Draco dueling was IMO exceptionally well-done before Malfoy got zapped with Sectumsempra.
-One of the greatest wizards dies and it's treated it in a matter of the fact way.
I think that will be further played out in the seventh movie so like people are saying, it was a setup. I'll admit, Dumbledore's funeral was quite an essential part since every creature paid his/her tribute to him. Merpeople and centaurs as well. Speaking of whom, they skipped Firenze too...

That fight scene was awesome...I was referring to the big one at the end of the book. I enjoyed the movie but I was still disappointed at what seem to be major changes.
