Deadline Hollywood reports that Nu Image/Millennium Films is close to starting production on the new Marcus Nispel-directed Conan movie and is eyeing three actors for the role made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The site says that Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen in the "Twilight" films), Jason Momoa ("Stargate Atlantis"), and a third, "better established" actor are the three frontrunners for the role.
The film will be based on Robert E. Howard's mythical conqueror Conan the Barbarian. The new version is expected to be more faithful to Howard's original creation than were the Schwarzenegger films.
Production is scheduled to start on March 15 in Bulgaria.
