Story : The story mode Arcade is nothing revolutionary but then again we are looking at a game based on a 25 year old property and a fighting game so you can't really expect something too great.

That said the story is pretty fun. It does what it needs to do. it gives you an excuse to fight which is all you really want from a fighting game. The story is presented by black and white comic pages that are slightly moving and looks great.

Gameplay : This is what matters in a fighting game. The game borrows heavily from super smash bros in terms of gameplay but less ring out victories. Easy pick up and play controls that makes it great for multiplayer.

There are power up's during fights which is cool. There is also a mission mode where you need to complete a certain goal to in win. These are not "beat opponent" but rather beat them by a certain method.

One of the methods is feeding bad guys to the alligator in the sewer. This brings us to my next point. Arenas are just as much your enemy as the guy your fighting. Some have things that can kill you like alligators and sharks. Others have destructible ground and walls leading to the next area. It adds something to the game.

Design :

The graphics are not the best on the wii but they are not bad. The look of the characters comes from the TMNT movie. E.g :

but it's not based on TMNT they just borrowed the look as it works for their game.

Extras :
There is a lot to unlock (including the Rabbids from Rayman) and lots of game modes :

Arcade mode - this is the story mode in the game.
Mission Mode - What i said above about winning under conditions
Battle Royal - This is your Vs mode.
Survival - Beat as many people as you can before you die.
Tournament - Self explanatory.
Swap-Out - Winner stays on mode for multiplayer.
Practice - Practice your moves if you choose to.

As well as those there are a series of mini games like collecting Pizza. There is also online for some modes like Battle Royal and Tournament which adds to replay value.

Conclusion : the game is pretty cheap for a new release ( I got it for £26) and it has a lot of great ideas e.g you can build trophies. Now some people will compare it with Super Smash Bros and be disappointed because of it. It's not smash bros but it's still fun. Great for multiplayer and if you like the Ninja turtles its worth getting.

Overall I give it a 4/5
