Yeah a little. It use to be easier to tell.I started to watch power rangers again last year.So i started to watch NS and found it hard to tell where PR scenes ended and SS begain and vice versa.
As for the explosions....I've only watch a hand full of SS,not even entire seasons, but from what i can tell the explosions are about the same.
The only real way you can tell is the wire-fu.And before people start basing wire-fu, i actually like it.I would rather see the whole fuild motion of a person jumping into the air and kicking a villian/monster all in one shot than in senti, where they just jump up then it cuts to villian/monster with a fist or boot in their face. Its just fuckin retarded looking.

Well the footage from sentai is now stretched because sentai is filmed in widescreen format while PR is not. So not that hard to tell, at least for me.

Agreed.

The suits are obviously more shiny in the SS footage though

Legendary.

I find that the easiest way to tell.

I can tell when it's Sentai and American, and it's not because the screen gets wider or the suits are shinier. The shots from Sentai are much different than the ones for PR. They're more lighter.

The materials for the costumes in Sentai are smoother and shinier like DaiRed says. It was very noticable in JF GoaC when Casey first morphed into Jungle master mode. What is blurring the lines a little bit is that the shooting locations are blending well, which takes the focus off the footage difference, which is working pretty well. Still can notice but it's alot better these days

The special effects and the high wire fighting of course in PR vs. Simpler effects and more grounded combat in Sentai most of the time

Retsu & Theo, Ran & Lilly are another example.
