Who all would like to see the return of Fan Fiction of the Month contests and Role Playing Game of the Month contests here on Otaku Hero Access?
If you vote negatively, please explain why you think that one, the other, or both should not be allowed on the board. All comments as long as they are constructively beneficial are encouraged.
The Staff are looking into reviving these contests. I will not be running them, unless asked, so don't worry about that. (If I do run one, it would be the FFotM only.) The Staff will be watching this poll periodically.
Appropriate prizes for the winners are also being considered.
This is a Poll thread, but discussions about this topic are encouraged.

I think if they do come back, it should be both categories, not to choose for either one, since they are different criteria

I would like to see both, because you will get the oppurtunity to see different work in different ways.

Bring both back, for the same reasons as dinokira, as well as getting more people active here.

Wouldn't mind seeing fan fiction of the month returning. With RPG of the month, no thanks. It takes multiple people to make an RPG successful, but I'm thinking you'd only award the RPG creator? Where as with fan fictions, it only takes one person to do them, and make it a success. Now I'm most likely one of the few who wouldn't want RPG of the month. But...I role play for fun, not to compete against others to see who has the best game. However, I can see the plus side of it. It would probably make the section more active. The RPG section is nothing like it used to be, most probably due to a huge amount of role players leaving when the new board came into action.
But yeah...I may change my mind after some more details are said.

Fan Fic of the month sounds like a good idea. RPG of the month, not so much. RPGs are meant to be fun and while rules are needed to keep them in order, the less the better. A contest will only award one winner and I can't really see any clear basis for distinguishing which RPG deserves to win, or is better than the other; other than activity of the players and the interest there is (which can be shown by the amount of posts racked up). Then again, it may do more harm than good. Don't quite get the feel of the idea yet, but if the mods want to give it a try, no harm in doing that...

I will let everyone know that we have a set of criteria picked out on which to judge the RPG's and everyone involved in a game would recieve the prize, not just the creator. The RPG staff itself will be the judges of said contest.

Are games involving the RPG staff ineligible then?
Because I could see a potantial conflict there.

Yes, we thought about that. GM's arent allowed to nominate their own games, so someone else would have to nominate out games, and if that should occur then a member of the RPG staff not involved with the RPG (Trinity if a GPR/Onlyne Production gets nominated, and me and Onlyne if one of Trinity's gets nominated) would be in charge of judging that RPG. We also have Bluestar if need be.
