Is it just me or do some episodes just make the zord fights unnecessary. I mean remember back in the first few seasons when they got out the power blaster and the monster actually stayed dead. Now it seems like all the blaster does is make the monster madder to grow.

As far as I knew it. I remember the monsters being on the verge of death at the hands of the power blaster, only for Rita/Zedd/Klank/Divatox/Astronema to save the day by enlarging them, sparring their lifes, happening alot in the first few seasons too.
I wouldn't view the zord fights as unnecessary because if the monster got pissed off from the blaster and was then large and angry, obviously zord battles would be a gift from heaven during those scenarios, I would have thought.

They were all part of the story back in the day, but now, I agree. Sometimes there is some unnecessary-ness. Why even bother having blasters anymore if they're just gonna make the monster grow anyway for a zord battle. Seems kinda pointless, doesn't it?

I Guess The Blaster Tryies To Keep It Original But The Blaster Sure Enough Does A Good Job

The Zord battles are my favorite part.

I view it as either blasters getting weaker, or monsters getting stronger.

I agree with Super Jeff and Razor: Dino Thunder Red. Using the blasters is pointless if it just makes the monster so angry that it grows. Blasters should only be necessary in real emergencies, like when there is too many foot shoulders that are attaching or if someone is in need of a rescue or something like that.
I can say the same for the Zords too.

What I don't get is if the monster is dead, why does it have to grow just to die again?

Don't get me wrong I love a good zord fight, but some episodes now a days seem like they force it in.

A lot of the season 2 zord battles were really quick. Not just the zyu2 spliced ones, but the straight Dairanger footage too. Sometimes it is forced, but how else do you expect them to sell the toys? :D

Top Shop. That's how.

I, too, like the zords the best. However, I like how Shinkenger does it, having the villains come with "two lives", one small, one giant. They have to kill them once and then again, and just saying that it is always that way makes it easier to buy a quick-cut zord battle.
I wouldn't be bothered by a combined blaster shot followed with a zord battle if the monster was just weakened by the blast or was resurrected for the zord battle by the main villain, but when they fall down, explode, and then get back up and grow is when it gets ridiculous. I also wouldn't mind if the combined blaster had no effect on them and they just chose to escalate the battle which they could do since they don't go by any rules like the Rangers do.

Yeah I agree, it seems like they just forced the Zord Fight into it.

Zord battle times vary from season to season. Some seasons, like Space and Jungle Fury, focus more on the ground battles and the ranger's fighting styles. To the other extreme, Wild Force had tons of zords which led to longer zord battles. Other seasons, like MMPRS1 and Lost Galaxy, would vary from time to time on the length of the zord battle.

with shorten zord battles with rpm is like there's no reason to make toy zord attack vechicles because all you do use make one or two moves, and the finisher with toy then you get freaking bored with it and let it sit in your boxes for decades,
i wish they would put more zord footage in rpm to make toy zords more playable rather transforming them and get bored the hell out of them.

Power Rangers and Zord battles there never is one without the other. As long as you have Power Rangers you will have Zord battles. For myself I dig giant robot action anyway. So let the Zord battles keep on coming!!

I agree with you SuperJeff.
I did enjoy all of Wild Force's Zord Battles though.

Like some have already said, its because PR is from Sentai, and they need to sell toys (toys are the main revenue of the franchise, aren't they?).
The zord battles make a lot more sense in Sentai. Instead of lasting 20 seconds, they actually have a few minutes of action sometimes.
I think what's always bugged me about Zord battles has been the obligatory Megazord formation sequence that's almost always played before the Rangers get serious about finishing off the monster of the week. Also, they generally use the same finisher every time. What would be nice is if they just had a non-transforming one-piece Megazord with a variety of finishing moves. I think the closest we ever got to that was the Astro Megazord.

Not true. The Power Spheres in Ninja Storm were like one megazord with multiple finishers
The mecha from Battle Fever J to Jetman were more about multiple weapons than multiple pieces (most had less mecha pieces than pilots for them!)

Quote for truth. Back in the day we always had good length 2 to 5 minutes (no exact) Zord battles. They were unique and well choreographed. It was actually a fight and not just stock footage. Nowadays its a two second manditory insert of stock footage doing a finishing move on an opponent because they feel that they'll sell more megazord toys if they put it in. Like most of you guys in this thread already said, it's boring and unnecessary. Since it's stock footage there is nothing unique about that specific zord fight.

Which is a huge reason why I was so delighted when I started watching Sentai. I thought "Wow...the mecha fights actually have depth!"

at least for sentai they can put in the mecha battle long enough, to have more playability their toys, rather than just combining with it and getting bored with it.
sentai is the best.

I think you're simplifying what I wrote. I didn't cite the Astro Megazord as the closest example of any Megazord using multiple finishers, I cited it as the closest example of a non-transforming, one-piece Megazord (as in Battle Fever J) using multiple finishers. I realize that the Astro Megazord transformed and that it was actually composed of two pieces, but for its time it came the closest to a one-piece Megazord and it had the option to use the sword or the gun. The only one-piece Megazord that was in Ninja Storm was the Samurai Star Megazord, but if I remember correctly from recently watching Hurricanger, it only had one finisher.
The mecha from Battle Fever J to Jetman were more about multiple weapons than multiple pieces (most had less mecha pieces than pilots for them!)
Yeah I know. I just wish they'd bring back those concepts.
