This is the thread to discuss the RPM episode "Ranger Red". Let's hear those opinions!
Personally, I thought this was a great episode. We found out who Eagle 1 was and learned about the family dynamic permating the controlling parties of the Corinth defenses.
I originally thought this was going to be the typical "red ranger needs confidence" episode, but it was so much more.

I liked this episode. It was a great episode. But something about Doc. K's words seemed intriguing. When ziggy said to Doc. K, "You've made a mistake" and Doc K replied "It has happened before you know, once....". I think that mistake may be Venjix. It probably means she created the venjix virus. Anyway great ep 5 out of 5.
P.S. If I’m right I’m about Doctor K creating Venjix, I'm wearing a “SteelSpaceRanger Was Right” T-Shirt to PMC 2.

Nicely done, and love the comical relief at the beginning and towards the middle. Love team player Dillon, and loved Scott period. And of course, Flynn's lines were borderline epic. 4/5 from me.

I knew that when the Croc Carrier aka Carrigator was introduced, it would malfunction.
Kind of strange that the Go-Onger episode it was based on centers around Black and Green (because they get the new mecha).

Finally, the red ranger gets an episode. Did anyone not see it coming that Scot's name was in the envelope?

The first part of the episode made Scott and Ziggy look very unheroic using the woman and her baby as shields against the Grinders. Also, how could that kid not be crying?
Other than that, very good episode. And SteelSpaceRanger, that is a VERY good theory.

Spinning baby attack? Irresponsible...
Now a lesson in the importance of Action hero one-liners and how and why to deliver them.
Summer spread eagle crotch shot.
Croc Carrier? No Carry Gator? Aww...
And it knocked out the power? Nice Dr. K. Now the monster got away and you're blaming the rangers for letting it go when they were saving people from the falling debris.
Ziggy still can't find the correct one-liner.
Ziggy pointing out Dr. K made a mistake. She is not amused. Yet she was the pot calling the kettle black when it came to Ziggy.
Now she explains to the Rangers what went wrong with the Croc and how to resolve the issue. Ziggy is asleep in his cereal. Possible with peach or apple slices.
Croc needs Core Reactor? Outside the city?! Great...
Dad still blames Scott for what happens. Feels he still isn't ready to be a hero.
The brother, Marcus, looked nothing like what I'd expect for the honors he had. Then again there wasn't much about him or his relationship with Scott. We did see Scott watch his brother blow up right next to him. Then he ejected. He arose to see a cycle coming. Enter Summer.
Scott stole the last known coordinates for the reactor and left the city.
Dillon wants to help.
Dr.K says it would alert Venjix and put Scott in danger. He's leader is the excuse for not telling them he went outside.
The Core looked like a model rocket with a metal vegetable steamer on top of it.
Daddy shows up to help. Time to get Scott and get back into the city.
"Waiting for a light to change?"
Daddy had a funny one-liner I see.
Daddy doesn't approve of Scott leaving the city to get the Core.
Dad. Shut up. Marcus would have done the same.
Croc Cruncher. Nice use of the mouth movements to destroy the robots. Yet in the very next scene the mouth flaps sans flying robots.
A dear dad letter of recommendation for Scott? In a confidential envelope? Dear dad? Isn't this the military?
Now I am wondering:
If Thrax could severe the Morphing Grid link, why can't Venjix do it? Then destroy the last city on Earth. Severe or at least infect it. How is it that this all-powerful virus cannot infiltrate RPM/Corinth technology?
That must be one heck of a firewall Dr. K installed. Which brings up the question of why it wasn't used before the world fell. Why only use it on the last city left in existence?
4/5 Spinning Babies.

IMO, Dr. K is a total b****. As for Scott's dad, how can he say Scott isn't ready for it? He's the freakin Red Ranger!

we got a lot of insight onto Red, and i like how it wasn't some prissy confidence episode as well. A few notes:
I didn't see see the baby fight so much as shields as trying to get them to safety and being forced to use civilian combativly to protect them and themselves.
Was interesting to learn that rangers and the military arent part of the same group, "your not my superior any more"

This is probably my favorite episode so far. I had no problem with the recent humor-based episodes, but if this one turned out to be more humorous than serious, I would've been upset. Luckily, there was humor, but the overall tone of the episode was indeed serious, and it expanded a lot of details of Scott's character. While there'd been a lot of griping that the core Rangers haven't been explored as much as Dillon and Ziggy, Scott's episode was well worth the wait.

The first part of the episode made Scott and Ziggy look very unheroic using the woman and her baby as shields against the Grinders. Also, how could that kid not be crying?
Yeah exactly! I was watching it and I mean come on, the best idea would've been to ask Ziggy to teleport the lady and her baby out first. He was using the pram (stroller) to actually attack the grinders? I doubt babies can take that many jerks/shocks and that one didn't even look old enough to have a settled neck bone (you know how they tell you to be careful with their necks). PR could be in a world of trouble if some smart-ass kids try to do that with their younger siblings...
Other than that, great episode. The fighting actually doesn't seem forced and is really great. Awesome to see them doing so many different things and the amount of original footage in this was shocking. Going at this rate, I'd say the Mammoth, Tricera and Tyranno Rangers aren't a far cry.
Scott's focus episode was great. It didn't seem to revolve all too completely around him and at the same time, got his story across. I have to say that it was really touching. When Scott's brother went down with his last transmission, that was a touching scene. It also opened us up a bit to Summer's storyline. How did she happen to be there at that time? Makes you look forward to the next episode.
Other minor things, Dillon getting all fired up was cool to watch. Even a bit leaderish I'd say. The Dr. K and Ziggy interaction is amazing. He's always bugging her and trying to befriend her. It's kinda obvious Dr. K will warm up to him in the end, but it sure is fun to watch, and at the same time, gives K some screentime. Last but not least, Carrigator/Croc Zord. There are some obvious differences between a croc and a gator. I think gators are supposed to be stronger? Nonetheless, it was interesting to see they split the zord in two so that both series green and black had a hand in simultaneously calling for it. Again, that original footage we spoke of.
All in all, no doubt a full 5/5, despite the baby episode. Great episode.
That must be one heck of a firewall Dr. K installed. Which brings up the question of why it wasn't used before the world fell. Why only use it on the last city left in existence?
Maybe it was developed with the ranger powers? After Dr. K knew more about what she was dealing with? Though this theory would probably be nullified if SSR is right and Dr. K did create Venjix herself.

Great episode, especially with some development for Scott and his father. Loved the start with Ziggy and Scott in the park and Ziggy trying to do some one liners lol. Flynn's ''Sissy'' remark was quite good and again Dillon was the serious one of the team. Loved the ending with the letter of recommendation for Scott. Can't wait for Ranger Yellow!

Good episode, GLad to see scott is more then a cocky leader. I admit the park scene was a little much, mostly longer then it should. But I loved when Ziggy was trying to do one liners. Scott's past was nice to see and it shows why he has to be tough because he doesn't want to make the same mistake of letting down the team like he did his brother.
Also like the last episode, love the like/hate relationship Ziggy and Doc K have. Also It shows Dillon is warming up to the team more as he was concerned for Scott's safty. To me 4/5

*The begining was like a horror movie (with the lady singing).
*Love the one line thing with Ziggy & Scott.
*The action at the Park was cool.
*I like the actual Red ranger more than his brother.
*"Well this situation looks a little bit shocking.....get it" LOL I love Ziggy.
*lol the great and brilliant and awesome K made a mistake (hate her).
*"Really? then why you'r saluting?" lol.
*I love the new megazord :D.
I liked the episode, I'll give the episode 5/5 (for the inclusion of the new megazord)

since venjix has not tried to take out the grid,
I am assuming that
a. Dr. K made venjex or my alternative theory (which somehow links the machine empire)
Dr. K is responsible for giving venjex a virus form, which is why she created the ranger tech and biodomes in the first place, to fix her own mistake.
Dr. K made venjex what it/he is, so she used her knowlege of its weaknesses in its current form to protect the city and create the rangers tech.
she and someone else (probably the gov, explaining the millitary's major involvement), salvaged the general and used him as a Guinea pig, He escaped with heavy changes, and perhaps no memory, other then being a virus.
He then took over a few factorys, and made grinders and ships, and created an army, Used the robo workforce to create a base, and used human guinea pigs to create Dylan's enhancements and tenyata, while unfortunately for venjix, Dylan escaped

Just finally watched it.
I loved how Dr. K was so boring, she put Ziggy to sleep. And Dr. K? What a workaholic.
Ziggy: I loved how he kept trying to do one liners.
Dillion: Nothing interesting about him this episode that made me enjoy him.
Flynn: Nothing interesting about him this episode that made me enjoy him.
Summer: It was interesting how she met Scott. I suspect that when they do her episode, that it will end up intertwining with Scott on that same day.

Just checked on Eka's background:a breakdancer, acrobat, surfer witha litle bitof martial arts. No wonder his choreography looks pretty solid. Scott had the confidence, but his father didn't believe inhim until he took action
Did anyone notice Motoko Nagino, Koichi's wife, was the lady in the park? She's a pretty wicked stuntwoman/fighter from what saw on Extreme Heist, Broken Path and Morphicon

Physically, not really. But his attitude and personality says otherwise, plus, he has the best lines. Ziggy may be the joker, but Flynn doesn't need to joke to get out a good line.

The Machine Empire link seems a lot more valid then her just creating him or him even really being a true virus. Let's just look at what he has in common with the rest of the Machine Empire Machine.
1. He seems to have a body of sorts.
2. He seems to have emotions. He certainly showed some anger when he blasted his generals. Especially the second one.
3. His AI seems to be completly indepentent of his minions. Even his minions have seperate AI's. If Venjix was a true virus, I would think that it would replicate copies of itself everywhere and in everything it can't. Prob didn't because maybe it feared a copy of itself could prove a threat to itself in the future. To evidently Venjix has a sense of self preservation. At least enough to not risk anything like that happening.
Now it is debatable on just how much absolute control Venjix even has over all his forces. It is likely most of his stuff is controlled through some sort of remote link between him and his stuff. Though oddly enough, his generals and his big machine monsters he creates really seems to have much of one. Other then one that allows them to grow. It seems clear to me that this is the same Venjix from Forever Red and he has now become very similar to the terminator's Skynet. Each of Skynets machines tended to have their own seperate. The machines could even be reprogrammed. So here is prob what happened on earth. This is assuming this is after SPD. BTW i know some find it hard to believe but considering SPD's actual year and New Tech city would prob be the most advanced. Hence it's name. Many parts of the world prob were still using some stuff similar to what we got today. At least in terms of automobiles at the very least and these people are having to use what ever they could get their hands on.
1. Sometime between forever red and RPM, General Venjix's AI was recovered. It could have been possible badly damaged. (thanks tommy for not finishing the job)
2. The people on Earth, in paticular some that were prob in the military, like typical idiots realized decided to try to gain even more advanced knowledge from Venjix and possibly tried to alter it some to possibly maybe be used as some sort of weapon on their enemies. (wouldn't be the first time someone has done stuff this stupid). Dr. K could have had a hand in this just before Venjix took control. Though her mistake she mentioned could have been trusting Ziggy to take the green morpher to the other rangers.
3. After gaining conciousness again, possible with memory loss, Venjix begins to take control of computer systems across the world. (really easy with the internet).
4. Venjix quickly takes control of New Tech City. (should be real easy for him at this point.)
5. With control of New Tech City, Venjix quickly begins to manufacture his army there. While at the same time he uses the Earth's own defense satilites to attack the Earth. In the process of using communication sats, Venjix is easily able to possible launch various kinds of missiles from different military installations all over the world at other countries. This helps to create a lot of confusion among world governments who by this point are prob suffering from communications problems do to Venjix. (nice job putting computer chips in almost everything and depending too much on technology.) SPD is likely wiped out sometime around this point by Venjix's newly built forces. Also considering most of the aliens were prob in this city at the time, the majority of the aliens on the planet got killed at this point.
6. What few remaining human rangers who might still be left alive at this time who still have powers, attempt to fight back against Venjix's forces. They however fail and are most likely killed. (Sorry fans who are whining for a team up. Doesn't look very likely and wouldn't make much sense) This is prob when Dillon and Tenaya 7 was captured and Venjix began experimenting on them.
7. The remaining humans left alive (at least in north america) flee to Corinth in whatever way they can. This is also when the battle of Corinth occurs and it is likely that by this point, maybe even before this, the other planets cut off all contact with the Earth in fear of Venjix taking control of their stuff as well.
8. Three years later we get to the point where we first see Dillon. When he first escaped from Venjix is still unknown at this time.
As you can all tell I have way to much time on my hands. lol. BTW as for this actual episode. It was pretty good. The baby non crying was a little strange, but funny. Didn't approve of Scott using the stroller as a weapon though. lol. Overall I give the episode a 4/5. Started out a little rocky but funny. But by the end it got really good. I was glad to see that this one ended on a serious tone too rather then with a joke.
To the guy asking why Venjix can't trash the morphing grid like Thrax did. Thrax had to use very powerful magic in order to do that. Venjix is a machine. Not a sorceror or a witch. It is safe to assume zedd and rita could have done it, but never did do them realizing Zordon would just have it fixed in no time. It would be a waste of energy for them. lol

'Ranger Red' is a fair episode. In it, we learn the backstory of Scott. It seem that Scott have something to prove, if it only to himself. The one bad thing about it is that we haven't learn how Scott became the RPM Red Ranger. ;)
