Just think about it dudes, I dont watch sentai but if Im not wrong, Jetman was the season before Zyuranger, what would have been if Saban would have started with Jetman and not Zyruanger, or any other Sentai, and was it the "ranger" in zyranger which made Saban name his show Power Rangers?

Probably yeah and they just added Power and the Mighty Morphin part to make it sound 'cool' and appealing to kids. It's like "Oh, they're mighty and they morph, how cool is that!?"

Lol that's actually a very good point Factor White! Never thought about it like that.
I guess you're right.
Power Men or Power Man doesn't sound as punchy though lol, sounds either like a battery, or sorta like something Marvel or DC would come up with. It sounds too much like a Western Comic series.

Yes, you're right! He made a really good point out there! And it's so obvious, yet I never thought about it... But I believe that's true, Nash, although I dunno if we will ever know the truth behind it.

Marvel does have a character called Power Man.

I still think Power Rangers should take after Super Sentai more. SS is just so much cooler.

Kinda off-topic..
Anywho, that's quite a possibility. I suppose it would've helped that rangers, by definition, help enforce the law so that kind of stresses the point.

Yeah, I know. It was just a thought.
Hmm, you're probably right FW!

Probably not much different.
If I recall, they actually tried to take the Sentai naming scheme with them when they changed to Zeo by calling the show Zeorangers for about half the season.

I lol'd, seriously. :D
Along the same lines though, there was always a credit at the end of MMPR saying that the show was based off of "Galaxy Rangers" - does anyone know what that is? There's a Wikipedia entry for an anime of the same name, but it bears no resemblance to PR or Sentai.

Season Two footage was from Gosei Sentai Dairanger, and they probably thought "Dai" meant Galaxy.

I don't necessarily believe that. I think they had then ame power rangers setup. They just didn't use jetman because everyone dies. (which is a nice way to end a series, but has no team up :sigh:)

Hell, they could have named it power force....Some of sentai is based off of Voltron and vice versa, and ultron is really named ultron force, so why not?

Well "Power Rangers" is kinda cool, I mean kids really love the name, so the bottom line is that Saban was lucky that he didnt start with Jetman and started with Zyuranger, cause both the title and the theme(Dinosaurs) attracted more people and made kids like it. And besides Jetman hd capes, it wouldn't have worked if the first season had capes, then no season after that had capes as part of that suits, until 2006. So the whole Zyuranger thingy actually worked well. And Im glad our first PR season was based on something like Zyuranger.

Agreed, Zyuranger was defiantly the best sentai to base the first season of Power Rangers on. And I'm not just saying that because it was.
