View Full Version : [PR] So who esle has rpm pleasently surprised
After watching the go-onger pilot, I was preparing for the WORST season of power rangers ever.
much to my surprise though, this is probably the 4th best season in my opinion, right after The original, PRis, and Lost galaxy.
Evil thing? SERIOUS Hot rods? Gansgters? A real premise besides the old worn out evil space aliens? An episode about different ways to forcibly undress people? Now THIS kinda of stuff is how we keep an older audience entertained while being restricted to children's programming!
Sowho else was surprised by this turn of events, and NOT turned off by the lack of "good solid writing skills".

I was surprised it was so bad.
I suppose "pleasantly" wouldn't be a good modifier in my case.

Looking at the Go-Onger stuff, I was preparing for a worse season than Operation Overdrive. But I am really surprised that they made a serious storyline with the silly source footage. Bravo.

I always knew that RPM would do well with no comedy (with a little because of Ziggy, its ok to have a little bit of comedy, just not alot like Go-onger was)

I'm realy starting to enjoy it, and how I can tell it's not just because i'm a ranger fan, i'm actualy looking forward to the new episodes insted of just being content to catch them when they come on, and this hasn't happend since Dino Thunder

I, on the other hand, am starting to hate RPM. The serious storyline, bleh. I much prefer the silly comedy in Go-onger.
I was pleasantly surprised by R.P.M. because they did a pretty good job of drawing attention away from the cartoonish zords by a) not giving them voices like they had in Go-Onger and b) writing the episodes with a focus on character interactions and non-zord battles. Before I watched R.P.M. for the first time I was grimacing at the prospect of a zord-centric season like Turbo or Wild Force with talking zords.

No doubt about it. I mean, after reading through all the stuff posted on the net, I was prepared to see something better than what we've been having recently, but RPM is waaaay better and definitely exceeds expectations. The childish aspects of the show are attributed to the childish sentai they had to put up with, and considering the footage and stuff they had as source, they've done an amazing job on the series so far. 6 episodes and I can't rate any of them below 9 (except maybe Ziggy's auditioning one). So yeah, it's overall a very pleasant surprise.

I expected to turn on the first episode, laugh at its ridiculousness, then never watch Power Rangers again. Instead, RPM has made me a faithful fan for the first time since Mighty Morphin'. It is that good.

I'm really starting to enjoy it. RPM has a serious plot, but has enough comedy to entertain my "inner child". I approve :D

I'm glued to my seat during each episode. The only time I get up for something (a snack, bathroom break) is during the commercials.

I can relate to that. I quit Power rangers ever since mystic force because the show was relatively the same, civilian powers and missions, blah blah. I just checked out the 1st ep of it for fun and was i pleasantly surprised! the only thing that can top this pilot would be if hulk hogan was the colonel

It's actually a good season, something to look forward to. Not bad at all, one of the tops.

I'm impressed by Eka's fght scene prowess, it seems like he knows a little bit of Capoeira. Ranger Red is my favorite ep. yet

I definitely agree that this series has restored my faith in the PRU, and I haven't liked a character as much as Dillon since Jason was still around.

RPM has me hooked. I am liking it more and more with each episode. I am starting to like the rangers personal background episodes. I didn't think that would be such a good idea at first, but after ranger green and ranger red they are definitely off to a good start. Lets hope they can finish it out that way.

What can I say that hasn't been said yet, Power Rangers RPM as FULLY restored my interest and faith in power rangers, and the cool thing is this is just the beginning, okay I've been away from this site for a while now, so I need a catch up, is rpm still being slated as the final power ranger season, or has the fanbase been able to get through to Disney to keep it going?

I was always be a PR fan and will suffer through all the terrible seasons (WF,LSR) but every once in a while I found that one season that def makes me glad to be a PR fan (iS, LG, TF, NS, DT) and RPM now joins that rank. I heard there were a lot of changes being done but I never imagined it would take this form. I'm happy with every episode, there seems to be real character development and dialogue than in previous seasons (JF,MF,WF). My only issue is it wasn't til 6 episodes in did we actually get any character development on any of the core 3 rangers...which is fine if we had at least 40 eps count instead of 32...but I'm still overall excited about each new eps...I can't wait to see the gold and silver ranger's intro, as well as the how the rest of the season plays out.

Why does everyone think Wild Force and Lightspeed Rescue are bad seasons? Those are two of my favorite seasons, but I know that everyone has there own opinion, and they are entitled to it. In my case, not just with Power Rangers, I've always liked what most people hate and vice verse, I LOVED both Lightspeed Rescue and Wild Force, especially Wild Force. Now the only thing I didn't like about LSR was the organization type, I like it now, but back then it was kind of annoying.

^We all have different likes and dislikes in PR, remember that :p
Alot of PR fans hated Wild Force and Lightspeed Rescue (mainly to do with the bad acting) along with Turbo and now Operation Overdrive (OO turned alot of fans off). There were also a few dozen fans that hated Time Force...mainly to do with the rangers not going back in time often.

Yeah, that what started to make me loose faith in the series with Disney in charge and made me warey going into Jungle Fury. Thank god Jungle Fury didn't disappoint, especially since it had my favorite season finale in PR history.

Is RPM still being slated as the last season of Power Rangers?

Not sure if RPM is last season or not and I hope it is not. As a longtime Rangerfan I am thrilled to see a season come along and snap you up like RPM has. I was suprised as heck to see Doc K was a person and like everyone else I am impressed with Dillon he is like a kid born of Tommy and Eric's DNA!!

Since Dillon was probably born in a lab (he is a cyborg, after all), who's to say he isn't:D
