Question

I'm getting all of them.

DaiRed
03-24-2009, 02:39 AM
I know for sure I'll be getting Batman, Detective, and Streets of Gotham. Still iffy on Batman and Robin, but may get it in trades.
My guesses for who will be who:
Batman- Dick
Robin- Damian
Red Robin- Jason.
Tim fans may not want to hear this, but he might die.

Deadpool
03-24-2009, 05:14 PM
Batman And Robin- I may get the first issue, but Quitely's art just doesn't seem to fit well with me on the ongoing Batman. I liked his art on New X-Men and thought it fit there, LOVED it on All-Star Superman. But this seems off to me.

Batman- I Liked Under The Hood. I Very Much Enjoy Barry Ween. The Green Arrow/Black Canary Wedding Special Was A Hoot! (The Actual Book Not So Much), His Initial Run On Green Arrow As Good. But Other Than That, Judd Winnick Doesn't Fit. I Think That When He's Doing Something Funny, He's Spot On (Or, unfortunatly, when its about AIDs, Pedro and Me was wonderful). But other than that, no. Just no.

Detective Comics- Nothing Against Them, Just Not Interested In The Characters.

Red Robin- Ugh..Move On....

Gotham Streets and Sirens- Paul Dini? You Have My Attention. I'll Be Checking Those Out For Sure.

I agree with DaiRed on the guesses, im still iffy on the red robin though, it might be Tim as well

Speaking of Jason (and going off topic for a while) if the powers-that-be wouldnt have resurrected him before, he would´ve been a kick @$$ black lantern

I thought of something today, do you guys think that Batman could top the charts in June? I think Batman & Robin has the best chance considering the attention it's getting. I think it would be cool if it did, not to mention seeing the Dynamic Duo putting Marvel in its place.

I thought of something today, do you guys think that Batman could top the charts in June? I think Batman & Robin has the best chance considering the attention it's getting. I think it would be cool if it did, not to mention seeing the Dynamic Duo putting Marvel in its place.

Its hard to say. The summer months are often when events happen to grab spots on lists. And while there isn't a big companywide book out, there is Darkest Knight for DC and Flash Rebirt at DC as well. I'm not sure if Marvel has any Title specific events going on, but its possible.

I think that Batman books will see a bit of a jump on the lists. It's been stated by editor and creator alike the draw of the number 1 on an issue cover. The chance to start from the begining and get every issue is cool, as is the intrique involved with thinking "What's This Book All About?". A similar thought goes through when new creative teams take over or an old favorite comes back.

However, I think that when it comes to these books spinning out of what just happened in Bat-Titles, it has a little bit of a hill to run up. Batman R.I.P and Batman's involvement with Final Crisis is kind sore for some. Also Grant Morrison's crazy, continuity clustering writing makes me nervous for that book. Also, Quitely's art, while stunning, doesn't seem to fit a monthly, in-cannon title, at least for Batman. Judd Winnick is always a hit-or-mostly-miss. I've read a couple things by him good, but overall, his stuff doens't always work. Red Robin was perhaps one of the WORST things to come out of Countdown. Now to have a new character (or Jason again) get a solo title? Ugh, No.

So when I think about it, I have to say, Batman probably won't take the top, but he will probably crack the 10.

I gues that I'll have to wait and see who this 'new' Batman is, let alone if there is more than one of him.

I'm beginning to think that it's actually Tim as Red Robin. If so, where does that leave Jason post-BFTC.
I can't wait for Bagley on Batman. He's my favorite Spidey artist.
And when is Batgirl's title gonna start? I'm guessing maybe August since the Oracle mini will be over by next solicits and if the rumors are true, you-know-who will be Batgirl again.

Hey Daired, How about instead of just linking to other people's opinions about the Bat-books, how about you share your opinions. Newsarama is a pretty popular site and I think that the content they have is easily found without you posting every poll or news update when no discussion has taken place. Plus you post the Batman solicits that are available in numerous different places. If you want to get a Discussion about the Batman line going, then say something. Don't just post a link to Newsarama talking about the book. Give us your own opinion.

I'll give a quick review of each Batman title that I've read:

Batman and Robin: Really Solid. I didn't really dig Morrison's previous run and I can't stand the character of Damian, but it was well written none the less. And while I feel that Quietly's art doesn't really fit on an ongoing title, it did seem to fit the tone of the book very well.

Batman: Didn't read it.

Red Robin: It was okay. I wasn't a fan of the Red Robin concept when they tried it with Jason and I'm not really a fan of it not with Tim Drake (that's right Drake. Not Wayne). The art was okay, the writing was okay. Not the most solid issue, but it served it's purpose and got me interested for at least another issue.

Streets of Gotham: I liked it a whole lot. Once it gets a proper focus storywise, the book will be even better. Dini is great, Nugyen's art was wonderful. And while I'm not really a fan of Manhunter, I adore Georges Jeanty's art (Buffy Season 8 is a really good title) so that was a plus.

Detective Comics: Didn't read It

Gotham City Sirens: Really fun. Harley, Ivy and Catwoman in a book written by Paul Dini? Yeah that's a book you should pick up. The art was good, the story was good. I'm really looking forward to what's coming up next.

Well I wait til the end of the month to get my comics, that's why I haven't posted any reviews. Well so far, I'm liking everything.
I decided to add Batman & Robin to my pulllist because I liked it so much.
Batman's going to be good. I loved the BFTC epilogue. Dick will be a great Batman.
1st issue of Red Robin was good. A little surprised by Tim's reaction to being "replaced." I thought it was more of a passing of the torch moment when Damian saved him from Jason. I think they could explain why he believes Bruce is still alive though.
I'm looking forward to more from Streets of Gotham. Dini is the man when it comes to Batman.
Detective Comics was alright, but I'm taking it off my pullist. Sorry, but Batwoman just doesn't interest me. Let me know when Batman's back in his first title.
And Dini scores again with Gotham City Sirens, and March's art is glamours with the ladies. Giggety.;)
Bruce can take his time coming back if you ask.

Let the rest of the world know what you think of the era:

Well Bagley may be the best Spidey artist, but it looks like I need awhile to get used to him on Batman.

I'm looking forward to what happens based on the opening.
