Well I gotta say overall I would give the episode 4.5/5.
I like how they drug it out before Ziggy became green, and how he wasn't suppose to become green but he had to protect the morpher.

Another great episode. Ziggy is just immense. My favorite line from him is, "Hey Guys! Just a few things about the rules about taking the uniform on dates? Because I think chicks would dig it". This guy is a riot. episode 4.9 out of 5.

I have to say this was a great episode. I think this is the first time a ranger has become a ranger unintentionally. I really like RPM so far and I look foward to seeing how Ziggy does as the outcast of the team, espicially seeing as his ranger skills don't seem all to top notch....I give this a 4.5 out of 5!

I would be lying if I said I wasn't drooling after Ziggy in skinnys for half the show. :o But overall, the episode was done quite well. The Tenaya 7 arc was interesting, but only when her mouth opened was when the annoyance started, though I loved the whistling addition. Very creative and absolutely enticing. I sense romance between Ziggy and Tenaya from a critic's point of view in the future; as for screaming fanchicks and fanboys, if I see one one more episode of DillonxZiggy interaction this heavy, I will die and bring thee back with a fanfic in hand.
4.7/5

I wish there was more interaction between Tenaya and Dillon. He only saw her with the mask on, and never at the audition.

I think this will be one of the main arcs of the show. Tenaya and Dillon probably will not meet for a while, but most likely fight in their uniforms, but when they do meet, we'll get some sort of climax for it.

it was excellent!
I like the American's Got Talent/American Idol-like scene,
poor guy, his costume was ruined lol
Tenaya 7's Human Form look hot as her evil side! i don't think she was Dillon's girlfriend.
good thing that Bob Frenso is not a Green RPM Ranger.. it was just Ziggy for now as Opening Credits still shows Scott, Flynn, Summer & Dillon as the rangers.

Favorite Ziggy line: "You talk too much." lmao
Ziggy was also a bit of an opportunist in this episode when he led Tenaya to those guys that, to put it nicely, to pound him into pulp.
I thought the way they had Ziggy bond with the morpher was a brilliantly done move, rather than just giving it to him.

You forgot about Leo in Lost Galaxy. Mike was the one who actually pulled the sword out of that stone, not Leo.
Also, I think you can count Tommy as well. He didn't become a ranger intentionally. He was sort of forced into it.

Great episode.
I was kind of annoyed at the beginning with the "tryouts." Did Ziggy really think any of those wackos could be the Green Ranger?
This season really is different than the others. I mean, we got mob bosses now!
I can see the storyline brewing between Dylan and Tenyana. Her visor was over her face so he couldn't see who it was. They have to be brother and sister.
Ziggy as the Green Ranger was hilarious! "I'm a Power Ranger!" "Hide me!" "Hey guys, I know rules say we can't take uniforms out on date, but I think the ladies would dig this." He's becoming less annoying and more funny.
I don't like how the other Rangers don't even give Ziggy a chance. I can relate to that.

wha I also like is the fact ha ziggy didn't know what to do. Even when aa ranger is cluless and morphes te first automatically know what to do. I liked it how ziggy didn't know and he was following Dillon to guide him. I think Dillon is the only one to have real faith in ziggy and I like how freindship between the 2.

I feel that this season is becoming crazy promising. In addition, the introduction of Tenaya 7 was done well and the intro to what she is capable of is great, too, but was funny how she would babble on about what she was about. Hopefully, since the sentai franchise is going out of business, they will extend this series beyond just 1 season.
Anywho back on track, i love how Ziggy really didn't want to become a ranger and then when he did become he was so clueless and amprehensive.

Sentai wasn't the franchise rumored to go out of business, it was Power Rangers.
This episode was decent, Ziggy becoming a ranger was unorthodox but very original nonetheless. The ranger auditions were a riot and a brilliant jab at those kinds of reality shows. Tenaya 7 and her little whistling was bone chilling as well, I'm not sure if I like that visor of hers. Overall a 4.9/5 for me

I do wanna see Ziggy kinda step it up just a little though, I mean the whole "save me, save me!" thing is funny, but only for a little while when it's a ranger saying it. On the other hand, I thought the "hiding-the-morpher-in-his-pocket" thing was CLEVER! I thought he sold the rangers out with the bag for a second there.

Loved this episode! Ziggy never changed when he morphed, he stayed exactly as he is meant to be which I think rocks! Loved the team up with Dillion, they made some pretty cool moves working together. I laughed when Ziggy mentioned if he could take the suit on a date as girls would really like it XD. Can't wait for the next episode!! 5/5

I like Ziggy's character a lot because he is so realistic. Honestly, that is what a lot of people would do when they first morph. They would weird ed out and feel out of place. They would not want to run head forward to a seven foot tall walking talking shovel right of the bat. plus I love how no one has a battle voice.
O and the other rangers were pissed off because he just put the morpher on and became a ranger while the other rangers had to go through harsh training before even being in the same room with the morpher. lol

High five on that one! I also liked the fact that he's not prepared, and I'm thinking Disney can use that aspect of Ziggy's character for arc continuation.

Yeah, me too. :o I'm actually OK with the save me thing for now. I think the main bust behind this is the fact that virtually all rangers were meant to be the just, or the fallen, or the ready, or just plain ol' there. Ziggy seems to be the kind of guy who actually wanted to be the sidelines cheerleader/fanboy instead of the real hero. I think from there he's going to start to learn how to take up more responsiility. For now, I would love to see more Protective!Dillon. :D

Agreed! Ziggy makes it worthwhile, and it's like half the audience is walking in his footsteps learning how to be a ranger with the first step being scared poopless out of your pants. I mean come on, who here doesn't think they'd pull a Ziggy as soon as they've donned spandex in front of a crazed robot?

'Go For The Green' is a fair episode. Ziggy was looking for a perfect Green Ranger, but couldn't found one. He ended up a ranger to keep the green morpher from falling into the wrong hands. I hope we'll see his learning to be a ranger, next episode, and that he'll find a reason to accept his powers and responsilities.

I have to agree. I want to know more about the other three rangers, I hardly know them or have a feel for their personalities where as Ziggy and Dillon I almost feel like i know them front and back.
Ziggy=Awesome. I love him and the way they had him morph. I watched this episode online with a friend (she doesn't normally watch PR) but she also enjoyed the episode. So over all good episode and love how this season is going so far.

I think the only way they could have improved this episode is if Tenaya 7 had morphed briefly and THEN Ziggy used the morpher, like in Kamen Rider Faiz. Also,it would be nice if the other 3 stopped being so up themselves. Otherwise,it's a very good episode.
Heh Tenaya 7 is awesome.
should not have used any sentai footage here though, becuase it was kinda wierd to see Ziggy know what he was doing half the time and hiding behind dillian the other half.
Poor episode. While Ziggy's the only character I can really tolerate, the main problem is that this episode doesn't mesh with the first three installments. At all.
The showrunner's first three episodes, while wonky and logically off base in their own right, established a darker tone for the series...and this episode (the first in the series written by someone not Eddie Guzelian or however his name is spelled) went toward a more comedy route without really taking the time to transition from the grim undertones of the other episodes. It doesn't make any sense that a military sect of Rangers would take the time to use a talent show audition to find a Green Ranger, especially since episodes ago they've been implied to take part in military combat.
The tone is a little off. There should be a logical progression from one tone to the other, not a bizarre Face Heel Turn into comedy after trying so hard to be darker and more thoughtful.
That being said, this is so far the best episode of the season. It feels like Power Rangers and doesn't try to be the hard science fiction RPM has tried to feel previously (and, I feel, to laughable results). But it doesn't fit RPM...and while I don't feel RPM fits Power Rangers, I think internal consistency is a tad more important so the season can, at the very least, stand on its own.
3/5.
Dissagree. The talent show was a bit off, but Ziggy is still Ziggy and the rest of the episode fit fine.
it is conceivable that Dr. K allowed the talent show for entertainment purposes. Those three sticks in the mud could use a good laugh. And Ziggy definitely enjoyed himself.
ZiggyxDillonShipper
03-24-2009, 01:15 AM
Someone so uptight about her "not spandex"? I doubt it. She's a very uptight person and didn't even LIKE Ziggy. Her allowing a talent show is immensely out of character, especially one Ziggy led.
I would agree on this. I highly doubt 'K' even wanted the show to happen, but Ziggy most likely persisted to do something for the team, and my guess is Summer might've given in. As for the rest of the team, besides Summer and Dillon, everyone and everything seems to be against our poor Greenie. :(
ZiggyxDillonShipper
03-24-2009, 01:54 AM
Yeah. The episode just felt horribly out of place. Not to say I like the rest of RPM, because I really don't, but I do like consistency. The talent show really didn't make much sense, and the whole episode felt kind of all over the place in terms of tone and how it fit with the rest of the episodes we've seen.
I mean, it's fitting that Ziggy's Ranger debut would be a little goofy...it just...didn't mesh well.
The episode was out of place, but I thought that was a good thing. A bit too dark for the younger audience in the beginning, but it eventually got a bit lighter as the episodes progressed. From my side, it was actually enjoyable to see an episode where Dillon wasn't seeing ghosts from the past, and Scott and Dillon weren't close to butting heads. Most of this episode, IMO, wasn't meant to mesh with the rest of the episodes. The last six or seven minutes were oprobably the acr proceeders, with Tenaya and Dillon going head to head, and Ziggy becoming the ranger. The rest of the episode; pure comic relief, though I think we haven't seen the last of the bald guy.
ZiggyxDillonShipper
03-24-2009, 02:52 AM
I just like a bit of consistency, even if it's in something I'm not a fan of. I just think the jump from dark to light with little proper transition in between was too jarring and sort of weakened the episode when taken as part of the growing whole.
Don't get me wrong, it's my favorite episode of the season. But that's not saying much. I also think it's the first episode to feel like Power Rangers...but, oddly enough, did not feel like RPM.
Consistency is always good, but I'm Ok with jumps once in a while. I mean this is Disney we're talking about, jumping sharks should be a no-brainer. As for the show it is rather than what it could've been. :)
ZiggyxDillonShipper
03-24-2009, 03:14 AM
You realize "Jump the Shark" is a negative phrase, right?
Yeah, I do realize that. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney busted sharks that told us Dillon was actually a dead man walking in a robotic suit meant for an attack bot, and that Summer and Tenaya were distant cousins. Or worse, Scott likes Doc K.
Like I said before, it's obiovus. They'll pull one or two one way or another. :D

I enjoyed the talent competition, trying to get too much logic from a kids show can hurt. Besides it's a ziggy centric episode, it was supposed to be goofy. Now if Dillon got a goofy episode then now that would be inconsistent.

Batman, Superman, JL, and JLU had serious episodes but they also had silly episodes which was also could work. Ok i admit the talent show may have been a stretch but it worked, for me anyways.

Ok guys. IMO the Ziggy episode WAS necessary. It's a kid's show after all. SO, it can't keep a serious tone 24/7. Besides, it's an interesting story. How will Ziggy take to being a Ranger? And even though it was funny, it still had a slight seriousness about it. Tenaya was chasing Ziggy to steal the morpher and he did everythin he could to protect it

I want this fanfic of which you spoke earlier. Very, very much. Tell ya what -- you write one, and I'll write one? :D
Gotta make sure you've seen this: http://www.vimeo.com/3566273
I liked how Ziggy cracked three jokes that seemed to be subtle references to the show.
The show being used to sell toys:
“She comes with her own vehicle.”
Most Rangers matching the colors of their normal clothes to the colors of their suits:
“Now unfortunately his favorite color is blue, uh, but I’m sure we can change that.”
The use of whooshing sounds in early PR:
“Sound effects.”
I also liked how Ziggy temporarily distracted Tenaya 7 by pitting her against the mob guys who were after him for money he owed them. It was nice to finally figure out why Ziggy was out in the desert in the first episode.
I liked Dillon's heroic entrance into the racetrack with his muscle car and I liked how when Ziggy morphed he didn't have an instant boost of confidence and fighting ability. Ziggy trying to strike with his ax, missing, and then trying to wrestle it free from the car he accidentally hit was priceless.
I didn't like the fact that Tenaya 7 was able to give Dillon a run for his money even when he was morphed yet unmorphed Ziggy was somehow able to get the morpher back from her. I also thought that "The Farmer and the Dell" was an odd choice for an intimidating whistle. "Pop Goes the Weasel" probably would've worked better, especially the short scene where Ziggy was hiding amongst the sheets.

I know it would have been a redux, but I kinda wanted to see the girl get the Green Ranger powers. I have ALWAYS wanted to see an evil girl green ranger. I really like Ziggy, but I hope he kinda grows out of his bumbling idiot Power Ranger aspect as the series progresses.

Episode 4: Go For the Green
Date Aired: March 21, 2009
Rating: 5/5
Another superb episode. RPM continues building up some nice character arcs; here we see some neat storylines beginning for Ziggy, and for Tenaya 7. Still waiting for more character history and development on the core three, though they may be saving that for the upcoming episode "Ranger Red" and the "Ranger Yellow" duology (presumably there will be a "Ranger Blue" episode as it seems there will be a story for all five colors).
I like how the special functions of the Ranger suits we saw last episode (time-space manipulation and so on) were explained. I wonder what the special function is for Series Green. The writers are giving us this information in bits and pieces, rather than just in the first episode -- the standard "explain to the Rangers their powers" episode for most series thus far. But I think this is also due to the fact that the explanations we're getting about the Ranger powers are so much more detailed than we've gotten in the past. I can't wait to learn more about the zords.
Hopefully, Disney will keep up the pace here. I've read comments that say how Disney is likely to mess things up royally before the end of the series, and while I wouldn't quite put it in those terms, I grudgingly agree. It's been a tendency of the Disney seasons (barring perhaps Dino Thunder) to start off strong and then to fizzle out as the series progresses by adding some sort of arbitrary drama, or something else to that effect. The Vella arc from Operation Overdrive, for instance. If the Vella arc had actually been developed from the moment Tyzonn came onstage in "Man of Mercury" (or "Face to Face" for that matter), it might actually have felt like it belonged in the series. Instead it was tacked onto the end of the series (in an admittedly awesome episode duology, though, with an insanely awesome zord battle against the Fearcats), and then she turned out to be alive after all, and then she and Tyzonn were reunited in the end, all because Norg gave her a fish, and there could only be one Tyzonn, even though Tyzonn is a common name on Mercuria, and ... well, you see what I mean. While it was a sweet story, it was implausible and completely arbitrary, something designed to give Tyzonn something to do that related to his personal quest. How much more awesome would it have been to have had a two-part finale that year? We all know "Crown and Punishment" was rushed, and it seems to me that if less time had been spent on such an arbitrary plot, well ... you get the idea. This is a review of an RPM episode. I'll leave it at this: hopefully, this series won't go that route. Already, this season seems to be different without Kalish on board, which is a good sign ... so far.
As for this episode: Go for the Green!! First off, I'm really enjoying the episode titles this year. They are not constrained by the "Kalish formula" of a set number of words ("Now the Final Fury" was an episode title that suffered in that regard, especially for a finale). Even a title as simple as "Rain." That episode was about Dillon realizing he really did have something to fight for, and the rain was very symbolic in that. There were quite a few people going for the Green in this episode. First off, the talent show. The scene with the first "candidate" for Green Ranger reminded me very strongly of Bulk's audition for the commercial back in "A Star is Born." All the way down to the three judges at the table. That whole scene was entertaining. The ventriloquist and his dummy. "Do you have what it takes to be a Green Power Ranger?" "I can sing ... and dance!" A mime in a box. The Santa Claus! And Fresno Bob ... what's up with Fresno Bob? Are we ... was Ziggy actually dealing with a DRUG cartel? Or just a crime organization? Does Ziggy owe five million dollars to ... whomever it is? Wow, the things we're seeing on Power Rangers these days. I know it's being played for laughs in this episode, but I'd like to see where this is going.
Another Star Wars homage, when Tenaya 7 calls Fresno Bob "Jabba."
Tenaya's introducation was awesome. The whistling (which Ziggy hilariously stated to Dillon, "yeah, she does that ... it's like her calling card or something") of "The Farmer in the Dell," juxtaposed over that "villain approaching"-type soundtrack, was seriously creepy. I liked the way how, when Ziggy took the Green Morpher and ran from her, Tenaya just sighed as if it was just another day's work at Venjix Hardware and followed after him. The whole speech she gives to identify herself was hilarious, too, especially as it seems she never will get to finish this -- will this become another in-joke in the series like the shadow puppets? At least we're not dealing with another Miratrix here. There was a flaw in this episode: how exactly did Tenaya get into Corinth? I was seriously wondering if Tenaya would become the Green Ranger after all. Though we all knew it was going to be Ziggy, it was an interesting dilemma. Still, Tenaya looks to be an interesting villain. I for one look forward to her character progression. Is she Dillon's sister? There was an interesting moment with her and Dillon there that was a callback to Dillon's dream in "Rain."
Speaking of Dillon, his role in this episode was small but important. It's neat to see how protective he is of Ziggy. This is a greatly-written character. Because he's the stronger of the two and he knows this: and he will gladly jump to the defense of his new friend. GOOD.
And as for Ziggy, here we have a Ranger who doesn't want to be a Ranger (I don't think that's ever happened before), whose teammates (the core three) don't really want him to be a Ranger ... in fact, the only person who wants Ziggy to be Green Ranger is Dillon! Scott's reaction was a little strong; Dr. K's as well ... hopefully they will ease up a bit (if only a bit) when it sinks it that, when it came down to it, it was either going to be Tenaya or Ziggy. Another heroic act on Ziggy's part. He may not realize it, he does have what it takes to be a Ranger though it will take some time for him to find those attributes that are already there. Not to mention acceptance and encouragement on his team's part. Dillon should have no problem with this but I have my doubts about the other three. I loved Green's line at the end: "Hey guys, look how cool I am!" And that bit about taking the uniform on dates coz chicks would dig it. Heck, I would do it. Classic Ziggy.
Five out of five. I want some character development on the core three, now.

you do know teniya is going to turn out to be the person dillan is looking for=i base this on the simple fact that starting in this episode to the current one HE HAS NEVER seen her face and is the only one of the team who hasn't. Also there is no point in wearing that visor unless thats the plan
