What happens if Sentai stops?????

The Japanese have been making Sentai for more than 30 years. What happens to PR if they stop. We will not have any more basis for PR series. I do have one idea however:

If they do stop we can use all the Sentai series before Zyuranger. It is guaranteed to give us a lot more Power Rangers.

Using the old stuff from before Zyuranger won't be a good idea... it's nearly 20 years old, the quality of the filming won't get together with modern stuff - it would look horrible... *if* Sentai stops, Disney (or whoever produces PR then) will have to make own material... or PR will just be over, too.

I sure as hell would like to see what Disney can do when they make the effort to make their own stuff. Although I'm worried that if Sentai stopped, Disney would just turn Power Rangers into a reeeeeally bad kiddie/toddler show...

There'd be really odd costumes, bad storylines, and no more evil rangers (that's what I think anyway...). Disney cannot corrupt Power Rangers more than it already has.. >_<

If sentai stops, then PR stops the year after. That's pretty much what will happen when that times come.

It would be nice if Disney could use some of the pre-zyuranger (mainly Bioman to Jetman...the ones before Biomen are really too old based on the suits & mecha) after PR ends but will not happen for sure.

Sorry just had to get that out. As I and others pointed out in the Titanium Ranger thread, a totally original Power Rangers series would mean a massive investment, whereas basing each season on the Japanese show is nicely ecconomical and guarantees big profits.

No Sentai, No Power Rangers.

Although the image of a modern day Americanised take on Goranger, JAKQ and Battle Fever J does raise a smile.

I wish Disney or some other company would start a smaller production o Power Rangers, sort of like Power Ranger Mini-Series' based on the older Sentai pre-zyuranger. It's really not to hard to change footage to make it look older and fit right in with older footage.

If Super Sentai stops, that doesn't mean that PR would end a year after. The suits, arsenal and mecha from pre-Zuyranger series could be upgraded and brought to a completely new level and given a completely new look. Then Disney could hire some decent actors and I'm sure we would get a few more decent PR seasons to watch. Would they be 32, 38, 40 or more than 40 episodes long, that would be up to Disney or whoever would own PR after its Japanese counterpart's end. :D

Unless a big time company wants to produce PR with a high budget like FOX or something, PR would be done.

Actually, it might be a good idea to reuse to the Dairanger suits and shoot original footage. It wouldn't be bad. Else, I believe if Disney felt like PR was worth continuing, we'd see a completely original team. Hey, we've seen the sleek designs for the shark, bat and elephant rangers haven't we? They blend in perfectly, so I'm willing to bet that if PR seemed to be prospering, Disney might produce an original series... at least two of those before ending.

The more practical answer right now is that it will switch to animated. Seriously, if they have no live-action footage to go by and production is 'too costly', Disney will switch to cost-effective methods to keep the sales up. It'll be profitable for them and since the target audience is kids, who probably wouldn't mind another superhero cartoon, it wouldn't make much difference to them.

If sentai runs out, then Disney should sell the rights to some other production company that would be willing to broadcast all sentai from Zyuranger on with no editing other than the addition of English subtitles. That would rock. :cool:

why do so many people think they should use old sentai suites especially dai ones the time has passed for that now the suites and theme wouldnt of been suitable then and won''t now because of it being older, all before maskman no suites could be used they aren't ranger enough and as said old footage. Its hard to say what wud happen if sentai stoppedwat pr wud do but i wud expect pr to stop first TBH

Wait? I thought they couldn't use Pre-Zyu anything? I remember reading somewhere that one of the conditions of the deal Saban originally signed was that they can't use any pre-Zyu footage and that condition was transfered over when Disney brought the franchise from Haim?

That's a good point about not owning the rights to pre-Zyu seasons. And with Disney copywrite issues, it gets even more complicated.

It's never gonna happen, anyway. God, can you imagine the early Sentai seasons done as Power Rangers?

Actually, no. Those really do look bizarre (for PR) with the exceptions of Flashman and possibly Liveman. With a little bit of modifications, those suits could pass really well now (specially considering what the Go-onger suits are like). As for post-Zyu, I've already said that the Dairanger suits could work really well. Who knows?

If sentai Stops PR would use the pree zyuranger footage, if Bandai really wanted to keep PR going in america they would have to remaster the film of pree zyu and work out some new deal to allow Disney (or whoever) to use pre zyu film.
