A cross between Gekiranger and Jungle Fury. Using the episodes from Jungle Fury (some names change for chapters), some Gekiranger names (such as Rio and Mele) and some other changes, along with unique elements. Enjoy.
Chapter 1: Welcome to the Jungle, Part 1:
A black armored lion creature struck.
The blue robed apprentice, Casey, fell to the ground. Another blue robed man stood above him, “There, now will you shut up? You’re nothing more than an apprentice, far beneath me. I would never train you.” Rio said.
Casey struggled to get up, being hit by Rio’s spirit lion had been a serious blow, but Casey had the tiger spirit, even if he couldn’t focus it yet, he was still alive because of it.
“That’s enough Rio.” An older voice said.
He turned and saw his master, the elderly Master Mao, along with two other students, his new, in his eyes, so called “equals”, Theo and Lily.
Casey stood all the way, “Ok, I’ll be going then.” He told Mao, “Rio was right, I was no match for him.”
“Casey, wait.” Mao said, “Lily, Theo, go with Rio and wait for me.”
The two nodded and left with Rio.
“What is it? I’m still new here, I have nothing to do but go and practice. Why are you making me stay here when I could be getting better?” Casey asked, they were at one of the small arenas where the students faced each other, once they reached a certain point in training, one he was nowhere near yet.
“Because I want you to learn firsthand how powerful one can become here. That’s why I had you face Rio in combat.” Mao replied.
“But Rio is the best here! Why make me fight him?” Casey asked.
“I have my reasons. I figured you should fight someone else with a land based spirit like yours, so I decided against Theo or Lily and went with Rio.” Mao replied and beckoned for Casey to follow.
Rio had gotten sick of waiting with Theo and Lily. They spoke to him and each other, but he remained silent, if not just to annoy the two.
As soon as he saw a handful of students come into the arena they waited and he got up and headed down from the stands.
Theo and Lily couldn’t hear him from that distance, but guessed what he was doing.
“Who are you going with?” Theo asked, somewhat bored.
“I’ll go with the students.” Lily replied.
Rio faced the seven students, each knew how to manifest their spirit, mainly to a low degree, but knew how none the less, which was above what Casey could do.
“Feeling optimistic are we?” Theo asked, they both knew the outcome, Rio would win.
The seven knew that too, for they all rushed him, calling on their spirits as they ran.
Rio held his ground and as soon as they came in range he unleashed the lion spirit on them, scattering them all and rendering them all unconscious.
“I don’t want to fight you!” Casey exclaimed for the fifth time.
“You’ll have to defend yourself though!” Mao replied as he leapt at Casey and struck.
Casey barely sidestepped the punch and grabbed Mao’s wrist.
Mao didn’t slow down; he flipped his wrist and threw Casey to the ground before grabbing him by the collar of the robe, hefting him up, and casting him aside.
Casey got up, battered and angry.
“Don’t let anger cloud your mind!” He snapped, “That will lead you down the wrong path. Be at peace with yourself; let your tiger spirit flow.”
Casey ran into battle and roared with the intensity of a tiger as his red tiger spirit lashed out at Mao.
His master remained motionless and his eyes flashed yellow.
The tiger was blocked by a golden, elegant, feline spirit.
Mao turned and started to walk towards Casey, the feline blocking the tiger at every move, until Mao reached Casey, “Excellent work, but don’t use your anger.” Mao said, “Now, follow me and watch the best students, maybe you’ll learn something.”
When they arrived they saw Rio among a heap of bodies, the seven students had used their defeat as a ploy and struck again, but even with their spirits, Rio had beaten them simultaneously.
“Rio!” Mao snapped.
Rio turned, “They accepted my challenge, so we fought. It’s not like I blindsided them.”
Lily and Theo descended, “Yeah, they accepted to fight him for whatever reason.” Lily said.
Mao nodded, “Ok, everyone follow me.” He led them down and past the arena into a cave. The back wall was covered in a large and elegant carving.
“This carving depicts our past. The battles between the Fierce Beast Fist, our school, and the enemy school created by former members who followed the path of evil, the Confrontation Beast Fist. The depicted battle is our masters, those who control the gorilla, antelope and penguin spirits acting as generals while facing the spirits of the hawk, jellyfish and bear.” Mao explained.
Casey noticed it first, “Master Mao, what’s that?” He pointed to the upper background, at a black and twisted vortex, as if something that was there had been destroyed in either a very poor attempt to cover the tracks of whoever did it, or for something symbolic.
“What was there was something only the ancient masters knew, or suspected. Something behind the scenes of the war.” Mao replied.
“What was it?” Lily asked.
“We don’t know, neither myself or my predecessors ever came across record from the old masters of what they believed it to be.” Mao said, looking at it closely, as if trying to make out what removed it or find any remains or trace.
“But do you think there was something behind the scenes of the war?” Theo asked.
“I don’t know, I suspect yes if the ancient masters did.” Mao replied and noticed Rio had remained silent, just fixated on it. “Rio.” Mao said.
Rio looked to Mao, “What?”
Mao remained silent, looking for the right words, “What are you looking at?” Is what he went with.
“At the Confrontation Beast Fist generals. Who were they?” Rio asked.
“The three Fist Demons. The demons of land, sea and sky.” Mao replied, “Kata, demon of the sky, Rageku, spirit of the sea, and Maku, spirit of land.”
Rio nodded, “Anything else to show us?”
“No, that’s all.” Master Mao replied and ushered them out of the cave.
That night Casey was awoken by sounds of a muffled scream. He got out of the cot bed and ran. His barefoot feet felt cold against the stones.
He arrived outside one of the arenas and entered with caution, seeing Master Mao’s crumpled body and seeing a black robed man above the body with a dagger. The dagger wasn’t blood splattered, so it wasn’t used to kill Mao, chances were he was still alive.
The dagger was blue and seemed ornamental, seeming odd to Casey.
The man paid Casey no mind until from the way the man had come came Lily and Theo.
The man ignored them and pulled Mao’s body towards the center, ready to pass Casey.
The three stopped the man who let go of Mao’s body and put the dagger on his own belt and faced Casey.
“Who are you?” Theo demanded.
The man remained silent and ran at Casey.
He swept his arm to the side and struck Casey in the side, knocking him to the ground and sending him to the side.
He span to block a kick from Lily, grabbed her ankle, and pushed back, throwing her to the ground and hurting her leg.
He immediately span around to block Theo’s punch. He grabbed Theo’s wrist, flipped Theo, and sent a kick to his gut which put him back.
Casey rose again and started to get angry, but took a breath out, focusing. He saw Lily and Theo glowing yellow and blue respectively, and while he started to glow red, they struck.
Casey launched his tiger spirit while Lily sent the cheetah spirit and Theo the jaguar spirit.
The three cat spirits raised their claws and struck, but were blocked by a black energy around the man.
“Black spirit?” Casey muttered.
“Rio.” Theo said.
The man stripped away his mask, revealing that it was indeed Rio.
“What are you doing?” Lily demanded.
He sneered, “I have nothing more to learn here. Mao showed me that today. My destiny is to the Confrontation Beast Fist.”
He unleashed the lion spirit which made the other three spirits scatter. He thrust his right arm up, and sent it crashing down at Mao.
The three ran in at him, but Rio’s palm had reached Mao’s body and sent the lion spirit ripping through the body of their master.
He roared in pain and flashed golden, as if the feline spirit he possessed was trying to fight off the lion, but failing as it became black and he died.
Rio rose, laughing and turned his back on the three, “If you want me, I’ll be at the Confrontation Beast Hall.” He vanished without a trace.
The three rushed to Mao’s side. His body was pulsating, and he was already dead.
A hiss came from Mao’s body as the feline manifested itself and spoke in Mao’s voice, “You three, Rio has fallen to the ambitions of anger and rage, that of the Confrontation Beast Fist. You must stop him. A new master is waiting for you. Follow this spirit and you will reach him.” The feline hissed once more and vanished, leaving only golden traces behind.
“So now what?” Casey asked.
“We have to follow the traces I guess.” Theo replied.
“And find a new master. But what about the students here?” Lily asked.
“They’ll be fine on their own for now.” Theo replied and started going towards the gate which was the path.
Lily started to follow and turned, “Casey, are you coming?”
“Me? Why not someone else? Someone more advanced than me?” He asked.
“You’ve been at our side, you deserve to come and join us.” Lily replied, “Right Theo?”
Theo nodded, “Sure, come along, Master Mao said ‘You three’, so he must have meant you too.”
Casey nodded and ran off after them as they headed away and towards town, following the path of Mao’s feline spirit.
