As a fanfic writer, I know how hard it can be to continue a story, especially one that is written as it is posted, without feedback from others.

One thing that has supremely stumped me here is the lack of feedback for fanfics, despite the discussion threads here in the Tips, help and comments thread. If you are a fan of a fanfic, its not your duty, but its just courtesy to let the author know what you think- whether its negative or not. You can be critical- just don't slam someone because 'you don't like their story'.

I know there are quite a few authors here- am I alone in feeling this way?

I think it's (for me anyway) most people don't want to clutter a fic thread with responses. I myself prefer a separate discussion thread for that. I dislike scrolling through comment posts just to read a fic.

Running through your past posts, I see you haven't commented on other people's stories either.

Maybe if you commented more, people would respond in kind?

I myself don't even bother reading fanfics unless either they're very well written or I'm specifically asked to read it.
