Why are people comparing Syd and Kim? This is something that is very common, but if you really think about it they don't have much in common. Kim is one of the most selfless characters in the shows history. Syd was very selfish, and not just in the begining. Yes I know she got better as the show progressed, but Kim never had that problem. In episode 3 she was tying to get people to sign a petition to make the town clean up it's waste site. In episode 5 she was using sign language to teach a deaf girl to dance.

Kim and Syd are the exact same character minus hair color, really.

You can't call Syd selfish. She was a Power Ranger, after all. She chose to work to become one, while Kim was chosen.

They were both girly girls obsessed with fashion and pop culture but with essentially good hearts which led to both of them being chosen to become the Pink Ranger of their respective teams.

Seriously, early Kimberly and Syd were very similar. This is not to say that season 3 Kimberly and early Syd were carbon copies, but when both started their Rangering, they were very, very similar.

You have to take the whole of a ranger, not when they were just starting out. Plus like I said Kim was very sefless when she first started. Syd just threw a hissy fit when she had to work the day before her birthday.

No it means that while Kim was making petitions and cleaning up Angel Grove Syd gave up a life of luxury to put her life in the line of danger for complete strangers.

2 I am sorry if I sounded insulting, not my intent.
3 Kim gave a life where she was popular, head chearleader, dealing with her parents devorce, and training in gymnastics.
4 This is not a thread on whose better/did more. This is about whether or not they are similar. I say no/others say yes, just to make sure people stay on track of the issue raised.

I feel that people forget that Kim had 2 passions, Gymnastics and helping others.
Syd had only one, herself. Don't bring up that Syd signed up for SPD, because Kim chose to be a Ranger. Kim went out of her way to help others, Syd did not. Kim was constantly helping the community. Show me a time when Syd went out of her way to help the community...you can't. Disney's biggest flaw is that they no longer show the rangers helping people out, or establishing that they are good, caring people.

Yes. Kim chose to become a Ranger after a horrendous beating at the hands of the Putty Patrol. Syd spent years training on the off chance she'd eventually be one of the few cadets chosen to be a Ranger.

SPD Begininings part 1: Syd is show with Shy and Bridge in a gruling training session in SPD as pratice, daily paratice, as a member of SPD, and doesnt complain one wit

I declare Kim the winner. Yes, they had a lot of things about them that are remarkably similar, but they are by no means carbon copies. If any two Rangers are carbon copies, it'd be Kira and Lily. The only difference between those two is that Lily doesn't play guitar. Kira and Z have similar fashion tastes, but that's about it.
