Hey BlueVoltronRanger welcome to your integration...I mean interview have fun :D

This interview should be completed within a week, but at the same time there are a few situations that may cause delay in completion. These situations include school, work, family events, emergencies, computer problems, etc. If one occurs just let me know through this thread or via Private Message, and we can continue this interview on a later date. I will let you know if anything in my life comes up as well.

Note that personal questions will not be asked in this interview.

I think I have covered everything so let us begin.

Your username; can you tell everyone the origin of your name? How you came up with it? Does it have a meaning to fan fic, or character you made up, or someone in Power Rangers?

BlueVoltronRanger
10-09-2008, 02:39 AM
Well, first of all thank you for this opportunity, it is a high honor, specially being interviewed by a highly respected member, and i hope i can give my fellow friends more about me.

About my nickname, i used to be part of a PR blog in spanish, i had a couple of fanfic, one mixing Power Rangers with voltron and another one involving Evangelion (one of my all time favorite animes), some time later the blog was closed and i was adrift for a couple of days, until stumbled upon RangerTalk, and when time came to choose a nickname, i choose this one, in some ways Voltron had some PR elements, also my favorite designation was blue, add both and presto! i was known as BlueVoltronRanger :)

Funny thing happened later, i received heat for my username, but i endured and it stuck on

Pinkranger
10-10-2008, 11:05 PM
Awww thanks very much its nice of you to say that.
PR blog in spanish interesting, and you got heat for your username lol why??

Name your top five favourite seasons of Power Rangers. Why are they your favourites? Did you like the villain's for these seasons? Is there anything you might slightly change about it?
If you do not have a top 5, list as many of your favourites as possible.

BlueVoltronRanger
10-11-2008, 05:12 AM
Well, apparently i did the unthinkable by mixing Voltron with PR, but anyway i won them over :D

Here are my favorite seasons:

1.- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The show that started it all, back then i could never imagine 5 teens with attitude would become part of american and universal culture. Lord Zedd was and will always be the greatest threat the rangers ever faced.

2.- Power Rangers Zeo: Good sequel and my personal favorite, gave us a better Rocky, and the Rebirth of Tommy as one of the Greatest Red Rangers, King Mondo was a good villain but the brat Sprocket threw me off.

3.- Power Rangers in Space: Good finale of the Zordon era, i would be lying if i say i didnt choked up when Zordon had to sacrifice himself to end a universe conflict. Astronema was a good (and hot to boot) villain and in a way more sinister than the villains that followed Zedd.

4.- Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue: The most realistic season of PR in my oppinion, it was a different change of pace and could make you think that if the technology was right, we could create our own rangers. The villains were ok but wasnt too fond of the conflict Impus/Olympus and Diabolico

5.- Power Rangers Dino Thunder - SPD: it's a close tie and THE only disney era PR i really could say were my favorites, both the return of Tommy to rangerhood and the way SPD was the first Police keeping officers of the galaxy ( i wonder if SPD was the precurssor of Time Force)

As for what would i change, i would say nothing, both the good and bad things were what made those shows unique, there cant be order without chaos.

Pinkranger
10-11-2008, 10:48 AM
More of a Saban era fan then Disney, I think your right about In Space, Zordon dieing was sad and Astronema is one of the best villains ever, could give most others a run for their money.

A great evil is loose. It's your job to construct a ranger team. Out of all the rangers available from all the different Power Ranger/Sentai seasons, which ones would you want on the team? These can be from each season and you can have whoever you like, so Five Rangers one Sixth ranger Or SPD style and have 8.
In addition, why you would chose them as well, what makes them good enough?

BlueVoltronRanger
10-11-2008, 06:12 PM
Well, my best plan would be with 6 rangers, wich are:

Tommy Oliver: I know Jason was the original Red Ranger, but Tommy had more time, challenges and experience as a field and command leader, and that served him to evolve into one of the greatest Red Rangers, and a general to the troops as well.

Rocky DeSantos: Had a BIG shoes to fill during MMPR, and that caused him to be always in a magnifying glass, but during Zeo he became his own person, a good fighter and one of the greatest Blue Rangers.

Xander: In a battle, all aspects and best courses of actions are to be into consideration, and not only Xander provides Magic and Mystical aspects to the field, but also being quick witted, strong personality and someone who can rally up everyone to defeat evil.

Jen: There will always be the debate Kim vs Jen, but IMO Jen is a strong woman, tough as nails a field leader and her tactical and field training is not only one of the her strongest points but a valuable asset.

Kira Ford: Of all the newer generations of PR, she was the one who embodied the best aspects of past female rangers IMO, and the fact that she was mentored by Tommy only makes her even more reliable.

as a sixth ranger:

Yuusuke Amamiya (Red Falcon - Choujuu Sentai Liveman) Experience is one of the best characteristics a warrior has to have, and he during his time proved time and time again what really makes a leader, not only being one of the best sentai red rangers, but also provide this team with assistance and power.

Pinkranger
10-12-2008, 10:54 PM
Jen is better then Kim, for me Kim was a wimp and always having to be saved she wasn't tough like Jen :p awesome to see you picked her over Kim lol
Nice to see Rocky the team as well, a lot of people don't pick him.

Thus far which Power Ranger/Super Sentai team up has been your favourite? Why is it your favourite? What has made it your favourite? Was there anything that the team up was lacking? Explain.

BlueVoltronRanger
10-12-2008, 11:19 PM
It's a split choice for me:

1.-Forever Red has been one of my all time favorite, it was a celebration for 10 years of power, and the gathering of leaders past and current. and the return of the original red ranger, when he said those lines a sense of both nostalgia and rememberance ran, it were good times and even better to see him use the power again

2.- Gaoranger vs Super Sentai: With more tradition and history than PR, it was a special episode filled with history, it gave us a glimpse of the first american ranger (MissAmerica) and it marked a return of Red Falcon as the leader of the Sentai team.

one thing i didn't like about FR was the re-use of the BBB uniforms, one of the things i think was the reason was no one would remember who they were, but hey, at least Walter Jones was one of the main villains

Pinkranger
10-14-2008, 09:15 PM
In Power Rangers, we are seeing a lot more Rangers with genetic powers, which one that appeared in the show would you want and why? What would you do with it? Would you use it for personal gain? Would you tell anyone about your gift?

BlueVoltronRanger
10-15-2008, 04:09 AM
Well, Ethan's genetic power was for me one of the most useful, the Dino Skin; i mean everyone would say sonic screams or speed would be better but for me and for how i was trained to fight, i wold use the direct approach, and having an invulnerability would be the greatest asset because you wouldn't constantly need to worry if you are gonna get stabbed or shot.

Personally i wouldnt use it for my own gain, or tell anyone, the greatest satisfaction and the the one you have to win over is yourself, being at peace within and knowing that you are doing the right thing, is more important than appraises or wealth

Pinkranger
10-15-2008, 11:15 PM
Out of all the Rangers who is your favourite and why what is so great about them? Did they do anything that you really liked about them more? Would you change anything about them?

BlueVoltronRanger
10-16-2008, 12:35 AM
Jason was really my favorite character from the start, specially since with my group of friends in my neighborhood i would always be the leader, i really admired the dedication, drive, confidence and more specially the ability to lead his team into battle. He was the reason i started training martial arts in the first place. With the Power Transfer i started to warm up on rocky, since i was always the red ranger i wouldn't stop playing cause the real character left, lol, so in time rocky became a close second.

Well BVR, seems that Blondy is dealing with some personal problems and I'm not sure when she's going to be back, whether tomorrow or next week..so I'll take care of her interviews in the mean while..hope it's alright..Sowy for the delay.

Do you watch any Sentai? If so do you like to watch some before a new season of PR starts? Which Sentai seasons have you seen? What is there about Sentai that you like that you wished they would do in PR?
If you have not seen any Sentai, would you like to? If not, why?

BlueVoltronRanger
10-22-2008, 03:16 AM
Its ok, i am glad we have the opportunity to do this, if you see PR, tell her that i hope that she can solve her predicament, and that she (like you and all my peeps :D ) has my complete moral support

i've just seen a couple of sentai series, i mean i do keep up with them but i wasn't really watching the whole season, the only sentais i've watched completely were Flashman, Liveman and recently Gekiranger and Go-onger, my current favorite is Liveman, it was my "gateway drug" of Colored Heroes, i was compelled by the storyline and motivation of the characters, not to mention the robots, fights and firepower.

Maybe the story and some of the elements of the japanese series are too much for american ''kids show'' and so they censor and take out some elemenents and scenes, and that sometimes throws me off from PR.

Karol
10-22-2008, 11:40 AM
Awesome, thanks I'll let her now :p..Cool, I think I should watch some of those sometime soon..

What is the earliest Power Rangers memory you have? Was it watching the show? Getting some PR merchandise? What was it that made you keep watching?

BlueVoltronRanger
10-22-2008, 01:47 PM
The year was 1993, and i've watched the first couple of power ranger episodes, beginning with "Day of the Dumpster" right there and then i was stoked, it was so cool to see them fighting, using large robots and, well, morphing; next thing i knew i was hooked on, and because of the premiere and using the hype, all toys stores in my city were promoting PR merchandise, and i left with all 5 mmpr, and the megazord (i still have it in my display at the office)

There was even a presentation of MMPR that came to my country, and as a true fan, i was there (of course dragging along my parents and my non believer brother)

Karol
10-22-2008, 09:08 PM
Lol, lucky.

SPD gave us our first female red ranger, yet she was evil. What are your thoughts and feelings of having a female red ranger leading the main team? Leading the side of good. What are your thoughts and feeling of having a female lead the main team for an entire season? Would you like to see another female red ranger? Do you think having one would go well with the fans? Do you think it would go well with the marketed audience (little kids)? Do you think it would go well with hard core fans (members of discussion boards)? Do you think Disney should make the next red ranger female even though in Sentai the ranger is male? Do you think they should wait for Sentai? Explain.

BlueVoltronRanger
10-24-2008, 12:22 AM
Ill take each question separately:

1.- It was a surprise at first i wont deny it, was something original and unexpected, but yet it showed us that women can be great leaders (unfortunately she was on the wrong side), but she was also worhty of wearing the red ranger banner

2.- it would be good to see a female red ranger lead for an entire season, it would show viewers that the leader position and the red ranger designation are not gender locked, as shown with Star Trek Voyager, Janeway made an excellent captain.

3.- Sure, i would love to see it, i'm not sexist or anything, and if she shows the right elements i know she can be a great role model

4.- it would be a chance to wait and see, not giving up at first and letting the character show the viewers and fans what is she made of, and in due time she can win them over.

5.- Absolutely, but more than little kids parents also need to play their part in this, because as usual they will have questions and be hard to the idea that a girl is leading them, specially being an action boy oriented show, this would prove an ideal opportunity to show kids that girls can compete in a boy's world, that there is not discrimination, teach them about gender equality, and with the right opportunity, they can do it as well or better than most boys.

6.- As stated before, it would be more like a exploration approach, hardcore fans would always have Jason, Tommy, Andross and many more great red rangers in their minds and would resist the idea to accept a woman as part of the tradition, but like i said, i think as the season pass and we see more of the character we can be sure (if she's well written) that she can prove the detractors that she can pass with flying colors.

7.- Well, i would advise against changing the gender if they are gonna rely strongly on sentai footage, i remember the anatomically discussions and whatnot about the Yellow Ranger transition from ZyuRangers to Power Rangers, and it would only create more questions.

8.- Japan is primordially a traditional culture, influenced by very stricts norm and rules, so it would have to be a quite long time before they embrace the idea of letting a woman lead the team, however if Disney decides to do an all original PR season, then i think they should put in consideration a girl red ranger.

Karol
10-24-2008, 02:45 AM
That's a really good answer :p

Did you like the fact of the original rangers leaving? Did it make you sad to see them go? Or were you happy about it? What did you think of the replacements? And what did you think about the rest leaving in later on in Turbo? What are your thoughts about this?

BlueVoltronRanger
10-24-2008, 06:05 AM
Jason was and will always be the original red ranger, with that out of the way it was sad to see them go, at that time (13-14) i didnt know the real aspects or reasons for the departure but it hit a nerve, i mean Jason being my favorite character and the one i would always emulate, also Zack and Trini (god rest her soul) were good elements for the team and for a time i didnt warm up to the new guys, but as the season pass and Zeo came along they proved they worth and cemented themselves in Ranger History

As for turbo...well, it was something that i saw coming for a while, they would always suggest about life after high school, and that sometime they would go into different directions, i will not go into details concerning about Rocky's accident and replacement, that is widely discussed in the Justin Hatred portion of the site, but for the rest of them it was a time to pass the torch and enter the competitive world

Karol
10-24-2008, 11:17 AM
Which villains in Power Rangers do you like the most? Which ones do you hate the most and why? Which Villain do you think beat the rangers more then any other one? Which one do you think would have been better in another season for example the villain in SPD might have been better in IS.

BlueVoltronRanger
10-25-2008, 03:59 PM
Lord Zedd, Astronema and Ransik are some of my favorite villains, but the one who tops them is the Zedd man, he took out their first threat (only to marry her later) went toe to toe with the white ranger, and in his first episodes was more menacing, a shame though that he was watered down in later episodes

Ransik represented more duality in a person, being a mutant rejected by the world and powerful motivations, for me he kinda broke the mold in villain mythos, it brought a lot of realism and from time to time, viewers could be even symphathetic to him.

Karol
10-25-2008, 04:35 PM
-.- Zedd used to give me nightmares lol.

Do you like when a ranger team starts off with 5 and eventually is joined by a 6th ranger? Or do you like it when a team starts with 3 and eventually is joined by two or more? Explain within detail the one you prefer

BlueVoltronRanger
10-28-2008, 01:45 PM
I've always been an old schooler ranger fan, and since it started i would always favored the 5 rangers then the 6th one, i think it gives us more characters and storylines, and also doesnt force the fact that seeing outsiders join later rather than forming a strong group

Pinkranger
10-28-2008, 04:03 PM
Hey Blue! Hope Anahi has been treating you well, saw what you wrote was sweet, I've been in hosp for a week, was not fun at all was horrible, but better now :D

So I shall be taking over your interview once more :)

What aspect of Power Rangers is your favorite? (The posing, Zords, helmets, etc?)

BlueVoltronRanger
10-30-2008, 01:07 AM
glad you could be back with us, tell anahi thanx, and that i had a blast, i am glad you are feeling better :)

Well, as i was a kid then the cool fights, the huge robots and the fight between good vs evil were the elements that made me addicted to it, but as i watched more and in time, i would find really meaningful the different values and lessons they can show us, from turning your opponent into a friend, not letting anything get in the way, right or wrong, but most importantly it was Tommy's words from the movie that made me realize my favorite aspect from Power Rangers is my favorite:

Anything's possible

Pinkranger
10-31-2008, 12:29 AM
That was a nice sweet answere, and making your enemy into a friend also instead of them always killing the bad guy XD

If you could create a Power Ranger season what kind of PR would you have, where would it be set, what year, what color be the leader, how many rangers? What would the villain be like?

BlueVoltronRanger
11-02-2008, 12:34 AM
Putting aside the fact that its a disney show, i would do a completely different style Power Rangers, Like making them more realistic, contemporary and giving it a definite edge, like marvel's ultimate line.

The year would be 2012, and earth is consumed by chaos, riots and evil, this time the monsters are not magical beings or aliens from another world, but mankind itself, two factions fighting for power using mechas and futuristic weapons and terror to engulf Mega City into a war, and the only ones cappable of stopping those tow forces for destroying everything are The Power Rangers, created and trained by a secret organization dedicated to the protection of justice, they would represent every aspect of what was once values and strong morals

Red Ranger: The leader, would represent Courage, he would stop at nothing to see peace come to the world, and will be there to lay everything on the line for that

Blue Ranger: Representing Honor, rather than heading on into battle he would strategize and formulate battle plans and come up with the best case scenario

Green Ranger: Representing nature, and avenging mother earth for those who hurt and destroyed the very same forest and life that gave life to the world

Pink Ranger: Love does conquers all, and in a world that lightness and compassion seems to be a distant memory, she would make evildoers see that when love is driven, she can be far more dangerous

Yellow Ranger: Light will always prevail over darkness, and she will blind the enemies and take them down.

for a sixth ranger:

Black Ranger: As usual, to do good you have to be willing to do everything for it, and black represent dedication, and the fact that sometimes you have to be prepared to walk that gray line

Pinkranger
11-02-2008, 11:43 PM
I like how you explained characteristics there for each colour and there part to play.

If you could create a Power Ranger team made up of Villains who and why?

BlueVoltronRanger
11-03-2008, 06:37 PM
Imagining myself as an evil general, i would create a team up with some big guns, but still would be careful because i wouldn't want any of the other villains double-cross me, so my choices are:

Lord Zedd: the one with the most power and experience, high general and also the better villain in my opinion

Divatox: She destroyed the Power Chamber and the fact that she's a space pirate adds wits and calculation into the fray, also there's nothing like covering all elements, and water is the place for her

Vipra: She knows how to fight, and she can lead the armies, Zedd would be careful with her, as she is always known to aim higher

Mesogog: just to throw a little battle for power -a la starscream/megatron- would love to see who stabs who, but still he would give the team up tremendous notoriety

i think that would be my top choices, what the team lacks in numbers they make it up in sheer power

Pinkranger
11-05-2008, 01:49 PM
If you could make an adult version of PR more grown up so you could have more action and blood or swearing, what would you do to make it more for an older audience and what season would like to make as an mature season for adults? Also would you re-cast the same cast or pick new people?

BlueVoltronRanger
11-06-2008, 01:13 AM
Sometimes swearing or gratutious violence doesnt mean adult oriented, i would try to preserve the essence of PR but making it more realistic, more approachable to older audiences and at the same time, try to target the first ranger fans like me; i loved Time Force, and the way i saw it had more older audiences than kids, i would try to take those elements and focus them more on the newer times.

Like i said before, if i want to target older fans i may want to addition someone they can relate, maybe one of the first rangers, except Tommy, i think that as good as he is he's kinda overrated and maybe its time for fan to know more old school rangers, maybe Billy or Adam, the latter setting great precedents in ''Once a Ranger'' but with new people, maybe 2 or 3 years younger than him, so i can base the age to mid 20's or early 30's

Pinkranger
11-06-2008, 11:53 PM
If you where asked to be a ranger in real life, which Villain would you want to battle, which PR outfit, which Ranger, which mentor and where about’s would you set it?

BlueVoltronRanger
11-07-2008, 12:44 AM
Hands down, either Zeo Ranger 3 or Blue Space Ranger, both seasons had a great mentor, and were involved in major conflicts, i would love to fight either Lord Zedd, king Mondo or Dark Specter itself, i would do things differently but deep down i know zordon had to sacrifice himself to win the war

Pinkranger
11-08-2008, 11:01 PM
Sound as if you want a challenge as a ranger then going up agaist them :p

Ok if you were a villain in PR, what kind of villain would you be? Would you have any powers?
Also we all know Villains always lose but in this case you will win, so what is your plan for destroying the Power Rangers and also which team would you like to destroy?

BlueVoltronRanger
11-11-2008, 02:43 AM
i would take essences and parts from villains i admire, im not a magic or mystic fan myself so i would base my powers on technology, maybe being a cyborg or a mechanical villain, like a mix between ecliptor, Ransik, Lord Zedd and one of my all time favorite villains: Professor Bias (always loved the fortress and how sinister he was, fighting till the very end)

My plan to destroy the PR would be to target their weaknesses, maybe device a plan that lurks them into a trap then setting up a machine to render their brains into repeating their worst fears and failures over and over, breaking their wills first and then their bodies

Pinkranger
11-12-2008, 11:41 PM
Breaking their wills and then body nice........lol

For you to think about, you think being red ranger, in other words leader, is decided by gender and/or looks, or by capacity, leadership, and/or by a good heart?

BlueVoltronRanger
11-12-2008, 11:46 PM
I dont think Leadership is decided by gender, (i've known women that i admire and respect for their leadership), or looks. Like i always say ''Why would i want the box when the real beauty is the diamond inside''

Being the red ranger, more importantly, being the leader of a team is being someone who people look up to you, someone that no matter the obstacles or distance is the one who pushes you ti give it 100% and more, and the perfect equation for that is: 15% capacity, 15% leadership and 70% heart

Pinkranger
11-13-2008, 10:08 PM
Nice answere Blue :D

Would you ever like to see a ranger go evil? Like is the villain in a new season?
If so which one and why? What do you think would make a ranger want to be a bad guy and fight for evil?
Or a ranger chose the side of evil half way though and season and stick with it, like they where betrayed or something else?

BlueVoltronRanger
11-14-2008, 01:21 PM
Most of the time evil characters were not evil to begin with, they just wanted the best of intentions but in a different (kinda distortioned) way, maybe he or she had his/her own agenda or different goals and purposes, it would be cool to explore said ranger's reasons but one thing is for sure: the other rangers would not take kindly of the betrayal

I would love to see a ranger turn evil mid season, it would give a different climax to the end fight, either destroy the ranger so good can win or let your emotions get the best of you and succumb

Pinkranger
11-16-2008, 11:47 PM
Which Power Rangers season had the best opening to a season and ending? What makes a good opening and Ending in your opinion?

BlueVoltronRanger
11-20-2008, 04:26 AM
The key to a good OP or Theme song is the rhythm, the way it captivates the viewer, making it want to find out more about it, and in the best case, make it get stuck in their heads for weeks.

My favorite theme songs are LG, LR, TF, WF, DT, SPD and MF, the mix of pop rock is a staple for PR theme songs, and are some of the best there is, unfortunately there are some exceptions to the rule, frankly OO, when i heard it for the first time i died on the inside :D

Pinkranger
11-21-2008, 11:53 PM
OO theme wasn't that great was it lol ''go rangers go rangers go go go '' lol

Is there an episode of Power Rangers that you do not like? Or is there something else in PR that annoys you?

BlueVoltronRanger
11-26-2008, 01:11 AM
More than an episode it was the whole Turbo season, not going with the whole "i hate Justin" trend, it is widely discussed in the other threads (although his usual emo trips were driving me insane) but it was more like the way it was shown; for starters the usual M.O of divatox of hiding bombs was annoying, in mid season the new team really didn't do it for me until In Space

Pinkranger
11-26-2008, 11:50 PM
Which was your favorite ranger from each season? And only one, not two one you have to pick one! Just want to make it harder for you And why them?
