I hear people say that MMPR had bad actors. I just can not see that. The only person that could not act was JDF. I still consider Amy Jo Johnson and Walter Jones the best actors the show ever had. People say that Saban brought martial artists and Disney brought actors, but I say MMPR had actors that were just as good, if not better than Disney.

That's a very interesting POV, because frankly, Disney only brought actors uptil MF (except Vida, and sometimes Nick). I never thought the OO and JF cast could act... (except Miratrix) they're too busy covering up accents and whatnot.
The old PR was somewhat cheesy, sure. That might be what makes the acting look bad. But for me, the acting isn't as notably bad as in the current seasons.

It's true that many of the MMPR cast were martial artists, but there's nothing to say they can't act either. I am both a martial artist and actress, so there is some validity to this statement. I wholeheartedly agree that JDF cannot act whatsoever, and it was often remarked upon. But I also agree with TR in the fact that neither the OO or JF cast can act, as well as some of the MF cast. Out of the Disney-era, my favorite cast, skill-wise, has to be SPD or DT, while NS wasn't horrible either. I do believe that there are worse casts than MMPR *cough* Wild Force *cough* :D

JDF sort of learned to act through his PR career. One of the reasons I like Dr. O best out of all the versions of Tommy is that he plays it with a lot of confidence and sincerity.
AJJ always threw herself into whatever they gave her to do and gave heartfelt performances, often with material that didn't deserve it.
Most of the Saban Rangers were good, there were some exceptions though; Steve Cardenas was wooden, for instance, and Lightspeed's Sasha Williams is a legendarily bad actress. I think the cast of Wild Force more obnoxious than bad, but Alyson Kiperman was leagues ahead of everyone else on screen, particularly Ann Marie Crouch.
Disney, as I'm forever arguing, has about the same hit and miss ratio. They've managed to cast several actors, such as John Tui, who've brought a lot of gravitas to the proceedings, but there are always some duds; nobody in Overdrive particularly stood out to me, not that I've seen too many eps. I also regretfully have to say I don't think much of Jason Smith, Anna Hutchinson or Nicholai Nicholaiwhatever.
