What do you like better, having a core group with 3 rangers, or with 5 rangers. Let's even add 4 rangers(for somthing different)

I like 5, I feel it works better. If you start with 5 you don't waste episodes getting 3 or 4 extras. If they had 40 episodes, maybe 3 would work, but we only get 30.

I like a team with 5 core rangers coz it has more uniqueness, more character development, is more stronger !!!

I prefer 5 core rangers.

Starting with three allows more focus on those three, and plenty of room for new rangers to come in without seeming crowded. Ninja Storm did it perfectly.

I personally think Ninja Storm was crowded, but they had good development. However, Ninja Storm had 38 episodes, I feel that today, with 30 episodes, it could not work.

Yes, you don't have time to introduce then with only 30. I like 45. However, I don't understand why you felt NS was crowded. It only had 6 rangers. That's the least number there usually is.

Ill go with 5 ppl cause it makes the series more interesting, but then with the three rangers you are always in suspence of who the other rangers will be and when will they come on the show.

Ironically, I prefer 3, for future seasons.

Why?

Because a core team of 5 just seems totally generic with little individual character traits.

At least with 3, you know it's interesting.

i went with 5. it gives the opportunity for more character development more character struggle and drama. they are more powerful which means stronger villains. there is less useless episodes.

I just feel that Cam should not of become a ranger. When he came along, it just felt crowded to me. He was a great suporting character, but I feel, he was just thrown in as a ranger.

I didn't mind Cam as a ranger. I mean, because Blake and Hunter were introduced (DT-Tommy style) but as a two-man team (making the ranger count of five), a sixth ranger was bound to appear at some point.

I am not a big fan of having 6 rangers when you start with 3. Its just too many add ons.

I like the 5 core team start from the beginning of a season...that way we get a 6th (and perhaps a 7th later) later on on.

A 5 core team if were getting more than 32 episodes. If were only getting 32 than a 3 core team

5,I'm not really liking the whole 3 person teams now.

Question

Three. In theory, it gives the team more chances at character development. In practice, it hasn't happened so much, but I remain optimistic.

So I guess no one wants to go with 4.:p

Question

I might have, but I've never seen a team of four, so I don't know how well it would work.

I like both (or all). I can see the benefits of both, and I enjoy the way it switches up every now and again.

The best thing about a team of 3 that builds is that you get to really know those core 3 before the other Rangers show up. The only problem is having little time to develop those other characters.

The best thing about a team of 5 is that you can introduce everyone up front and get to know them a bit. The problem is that, with five Rangers, it's hard for them all to get equal ammounts of character development.

They're both awesome, but they both have their flaws.

Then you should have voted 4;)

You guys are missing out all the major 4-ranger teams. Like they've never happened.

4-Ranger Teams

MMPR1 Jason, Trini, Zack, Billy
MMPR1 Trini, Zack, Kimberly, Billy
MMPR3 Rocky, Aisha, Adam, Billy
Turbo Movie Tommy, Tanya, Adam, Kat
Turbo Tanya, Adam, Kat, Justin
Space Ashley, Carlos, Cassie, T.J
Ninja Storm Shane, Dustin, Blake, Tori
Dino Thunder Connor, Kira, Tommy, Ethan
SPD Z, Bridge, Sky, Syd
Jungle Fury Casey, Lily, RJ, Theo

Huh? Most of those teams were 5-member teams, except for Ninja Storm (which began as three) and DinoThunder, which admittedly was four for a while...until Trent joined.

They all acted as a team of four members, at some point.

Jason, Trini, Zack, Billy worked as a four member team when Kimberly was often absent during MMPR1, such as in 'Calamity Kimberly' and 'Foul Play in the Sky'

Trini, Zack, Kimberly, Billy worked as a four member team when Jason was occupied on solo missions, being the most independant of the squad. Zack took charge.

Rocky, Aisha, Adam, Billy acted more like a four member team than any combo in the whole of MMPR, they were pink rangerless for a part of MMPR3, with the White Ranger left to solve the Pink Ranger issues, these four (led by Billy) had to work with each other as a four member team.

Tommy, Tanya, Adam, Kat teamed up in the Turbo Movie, before Justin made an entrance.

Tanya, Adam, Kat, Justin were the team in the Turbo series, first half. Seeing as Tommy was doing his loner thing again.

Ashley, Carlos, Cassie, T.J in the early parts of Space, before they met Andros.

Shane, Dustin, Blake, Tori in Return of Thunder. When Blake was broken from the spell before Hunter was. They worked a four member team to rescue Hunter.

Connor, Kira, Tommy, Ethan. Goes without saying. Just like Casey, Lily, RJ, Theo.

Z, Bridge, Sky, Syd were a four member team before Jack accepted his responsibilities. They even had a special 'four member' squad effect together after their morphed. What more do you want?

They all acted as four-member team, which is basically what we are all getting at here.

No indication was left here about it being an 'entire season' worth.

Alright then.

First post.

What do you like better, starting with 3 rangers, or starting with 5 rangers. Let's even add 4 rangers(for somthing different)

S.P.D started with four rangers. They morphed, they even did their usual 'S.P.D' pose at the end of their morph, holding their badges out, with special effects behind. This was with four members, before Jack decided to join later.

Technically, S.P.D started with four rangers.

I mean, if you want to do things by the book, you gotta pay attention to what the first morphs look like.

Although, you could say that Bridge, Sky and Syd morphed before Z joined too. So they started with three, but there wasn't a fancy pose at the end or special effects behind.

I meant core, as in the title of the thread. I am now going to edit the first post to change that.

Wow im the only one so far who likes the idea of a 4 core team.Would be nice to see them have 4 core team then add a 5th ranger then a 6th final ranger.Though a higher episode cound would help, but that can be said for any season really.Plus it would be a first.

I won't be black and white about this (LOL ranger colours). But five-ranger core teams and three-ranger core teams are both different, for certain purposes.

It's difficult to label one as 'the best', just like it's difficult to label anything as 'the best'. 'Best ranger' for example. It's difficult to generalize someone as 'everything', it's easier to rank people or concept in terms of 'development' or 'entertainment' for example.

Five ranger core team for entertainment, three ranger core team for development. IMO.

I have to disagree with those who say a group of five gives more opportunity for character development. When there are two less members on the team that gives the other three more chance to "learn and change" (to borrow a catch phrase from Gekiranger, which did it so well).

Anyway. For PR, 5 is better. For Sentai, I prefer 3.

5 core rangers are better (MMPR SPD TIME FORCE) but 3 core rangers is cool to (DINO THUNDER NINJA STORM)

Considering Disney, 3 core rangers have more development as compared to five (save for SPD). Yet 3 core rangers means that there mostly likely won't be another girl ranger, so considering we have enough episodes, I'll go with 5 rangers. It seems to give off a nice retro effect as well :).

EDIT: I wouldn't mind a team of four either.
