ever wonder why there has been so few yellow male rangers. there has only been 4. in sentai there is more. i mean it doesn't bother me. i was just wondering why. i think it would be kool to see a girl red ranger. it would kool if they would just mix it up more.

Saban wanted another girl ranger. Most kids associate yellow as a girl color. I want a female red ranger leader.

i really think that it would be kool. i mean it could lead to alot of team drama too. which is somethings that seems to be missing now. have a male rangers that is jealous.

The very process of there being too many female yellow rangers, in a way, should make you appreciate the presence of the male yellow rangers.

I thought the idea of having 4 guys and 1 girl was kind of weird, especially after the 6th Ranger came, then it became 6 to 1

Yeah, I think it is best to have two female Rangers on the team. That way most of the team balances out (A 2 out of 5 ratio is much better than a 1 out of 5).

I never liked male yellow rangers, something about a man in yellow spandex. I am still waiting for a season with 3 girls(Yellow,Pink,Blue)

Honestly, I wish they had went along with the Sentai footage from the start. We wouldn't have so many "Is the Yellow Ranger a male?!?" threads. But then we wouldn't have such great Rangers like Trini, Katie or even Taylor.
I still long for the day to see a black Pink Ranger, and female Rangers for Green and Black.

Yeah, I mean socially, black and green etc. are for men, and the lighter colors are for women. It's universal throughout the world it would seem. It's unfortunate.

it is universal, but power rangers have done some things that were out there. i don't see why they cant break through the stereotypes.
when i said that a red female ranger would be nice. i wasnt implying just one female. females could be blue or green even. it would be hard just to change things up for once.

I agree...but those are tough stereotypes to break, my friend.

There would simply be too many guys. We need more girls and so far, yellow is the most suitable colour. Other colours can have shades tweaked a little bit to match (like Tori's) but personally, I like to see them stay the same and see girls in yellow. Besides, the only two male yellow rangers we had were goofballs (not saying they weren't likeable). Now there's a stereotype in the making...

I'd say that Dustin was portrayed somewhat dimwhitted, I'm not saying he was stupid. I think that if they hadn't changed the blueprints as to what a yellow ranger is, for the males, more people would be ok with the idea of male yellow rangers.
I believe there should always be two girl rangers, yellow or not. How would people react if the male/female ratio was reversed in Ninja Storm or Dino Thunder, yet its probably the ratio that we like Kira and Tori so much.

It was more of their characters for me which made them so likeable. The ratio IMO should be equal. A complete reversal like 4 girls to 1 guy would make it girly and the target audience won't like that. A 3 girls to 2 guys ratio on the other hand sounds pretty good...

I was saying that people would think it was outrageous. Imagine a season with a ratio of 5 girls and 1 guy, like Ninja Storm. People forget that Power Rangers also have girl fans.
Question

It definitely has girl fans, but they're not the target audience.

Yea, but it's been stated by Disney that their target aduiance was 3 to 6. That's the target, not the actual aduiance. But I think that we are just arguing the same point. I agree with you and your point. I was talking about why I believe they should always have at least two female rangers.

i dont think any one has stated that there should only be one female ranger. i think it would even be nice one time to see a team that is 50% male and 50% female. maybe have the 6th ranger be a female. it would be really nice to change it up.

I think it would be cool if they started with 3 female and two males, and then bring in another male. But who wouldn't like to see an evil female ranger.

I agree. There should be atleast 2 females if it is a team of 5 rangers.
It kind of bugs as it is right now on Jungle Fury that you have Lily and the other 4 rangers are male.

And they should atleast not always put Yellow and Pink rangers at the bottom of the power line. Even though I liked SPD, thats something I didnt like. Red was commander, Blue was 2nd in command, Green was 3rd and the girls were last. Even though their outfits were numbered, they didnt have to go that way in the command line.
Or they should change it up and not have Red always be associated with Team Leader. Have another color be team leader.

thats what i think to. change is necessary sometimes. i just dont think that disney is going to put the effort into changing things around that much. yes i kno they created the spirit rangers but thats about it. disney tends to try and follow the main stucture of the sentai counter part. sometimes thats good and sometimes is can be bad. i dont really see a problem of a ratio of more 4 guys to 1 girl. i think it would be a great idea to bring in an extra female ranger. or even make it 3 and 3.

Well if the rumours of next year's Sentai are true, and if PR goes live action in 2010 with that new series, they should try to incorporate a male yellow (as shown in the rumours).

That sounds reasonable. As for evil female, long as she's not emo and doesn't keep on quoting that 'hell hath no fury' stuff... or I'd probably kick someone in the fork of the legs :p
I think pink and yellow are just fine. Just that they shouldn't reduce the number of girls, or should bring in a girl later on...

Ninja Storm?
1 female and 4 males excluding Cam, 5 males with Cam.

I like to have a strong female villain, as well. If we had a team of 3 rangers to start, 2:1 ratio, and then two more wildcards at 1:1, versus a female villain, it would be perfect, imho.
