View Full Version : Should Eric have joined the team earlier?

He never really felt like part of the team until the Wild Force Team Up. Which is a rarity for Power Rangers. Should he have joined the team during Time Force?

I really liked that about Eric actually. He was different then the other Sixth Rangers that came before. I liked that he was more of a gray area character. He didn't become a Ranger because he wanted to do the right thing. And his conflict with Wes really added to the story. I felt his arch was perfect. We got a lot of character progression for him. As he did become a true Ranger by the end.

Eric was evil and should have been frozen with the other mutant criminals. He should never have had the Quantum Powers to begin with. A true Ranger doesn't become one for himself. Tommy would have never let him keep the morpher.

I think it worked out better that he was on his own. He wasn't a villain. But he was a bit of an antagonist, especially for Wes. We got to see Eric develop into what he became in the Wold Force Team up

It was nice to have a different kind of Sixth Ranger

They were actually pretty consistent with Eric, which Time Force sometimes has trouble with. So I really like what they did with the Quantum Ranger. I am just glad that rumor about Alex being Quantum was untrue.

Oh yeah thats right, I remember that rumor. It probably started because people assumed Alex was coming back after he "died". And they weren't wrong, since he did come back much later on.

Alex would never have been a Ranger, since he was evil. Most of the Time Force characters were pretty unlikable. Or outright evil like Alex, Wes, and Mr. Collins.

Eh he was a Ranger in episode 1 of that season?

He was always meant to be his own person and separate from the Rangers. Buy the time of Wild Force he was working with Eric on the Silver Guardians, so he could finally join the team.

I never liked Eric. He had a huge ego and only cared about himself.

Eric should never have been a Power Ranger. Zordon would never allowed him on the team.

No,No! That was the whole point of Eric's characters. He was a true loner and lead his own team ( Silver Guardians).

Of course Wild Force tried to lazily copy this. But Merrick just came off like a jerk who felt sorry for himself. Whereas Eric has personal motivations that made sense for him to be a loner.

They actually alluded to him regretting not being part of the team when he talked to Taylor about not appreciating his friends enough.

It waa clearly intentional to have Eric remain on his own until the end.

Eric was a direct adaption of Timefire. So its not surprising that he didn't join the team. i would have preferred an original storyline.

No, it wouldn't fit his character. Him joining he team in the team up was earned due to his character development.

But I always wished Eric got his own team of Quantum Rangers. I thought thats where they were going with the reverse engineering of the powers Bio lab was trying.

Jen should have recruited Eric to be the Red Ranger or her team ( with the Quantum Powers). Since Eric was so much more qualified to be Red Ranger then Wes. Who shouldn't even have been on the team.

Eric just was too much of a dark character for Power Rangers.

Eh I don't know I like that he was doing his own thing for a long time before he joined the team.

Mostly because he seemed to provide contrast for Wes, and the Time Force Rangers.

I sometimes wish Timeranger gave him a full team because I would have liked to have seen something similar to Jetman with the Neo Jetman but for a whole season.

This made Eric different. You can't have every Sixth Ranger follow the same formula. PR fell into that trap later on.

That would have been really cool. Even of they could only do it for one episode.

In theory yes...Unfortunately there was no Sentai Footage. Producing more original footage was probably not possible. Look at how downsized the team up was that year. I am sure the premiere had a ton of original footage, probably close to 100 percent.

Then the timestream would have been changed too much. Which was a huge theme that season.

Eric wasn't a true Ranger in my eyes. He was no role model. One of the good things about MMPR was how the Rangers were always role models.

Time Force more or less slaved to Time Ranger..Aside from the top notch first ten episodes. After that it was full Timeranger hack. Eric was never going to be much different from Timefire.
