I would keep Tommy as mentor, but have someone else became the Black Dino Thunder. It could be Trent, allowing a female to become the White Dino Thunder Ranger. :D

yes but not impossible since they did it with the Titanium Ranger in Lightspeed Rescue and they also did it with the Spirit Rangers in Jungle Fury.

I don't think they wanted to go to the trouble of doing that. They could have made Trassic Six Ranger and didn't.
