She had more experience in Lightspeed then the others. Mitchell says she trained her whole life to be a Ranger. She is even the one that assembled the team. Dana should have been team leader.

Agreed, it was silly that Carter got to lead just because he was Red. I know its a PR thing. But that only works when everyone becomes a Ranger at the same time.

Carter was so boring! Man was Lightspeed a chore to sit through. The first episode had promise but it was all downhill after that. I would say Dana should lead but she wasn't any more interesting then Carter. The only likeable Ranger was Joel..

It would have made far more sense to make Dana the leader. She trained to be a Ranger her whole life and was the one to show the newbies around. She was the only Ranger even officially a part of Lightspeed before the series began. It really made no sense to have her take on a secondary role.

The problem with Dana is that she wasn't written as a strong character after the first episode. She was no longer the bad ass lightspeed officer and even became borderline comic relief in the second half.

She got annoying when she constantly wondered where Ryan was later in the season.

Carter was a terrible character who ruined Lightspeed Rescue by constantly hogging the spotlight. The season would have been a hundred times better with Dana as leader. But I am sure Carter would have still found a way to hog the spotlight.

The writers originally wrote Dana to be a tough by the book officer. But the really didn't know what to do with her. So she really became much more passive. Over time she became more of a slightly quirky character. But she wasn't particularly interesting with that either. They already had Kelsey to be the quirky character. The only more boring character was Chad.

She wasn't trained to be the leader of the team. Carter had the attributes necessarily based on his work as a fireman Lightspeed monitored him closely and Mitchell all his life. They knew he was qualified to lead. Any Lightspeed or Ranger info could he taught. Its not like Dana didn't have an importantly role on the team.

Being a leader is usually arbitrary in Power Rangers anyway.

Carter did a good job as leader and had some good episodes done based on his leadership . Trial By Fire is one of PR's best half and hours. Just a good story that with a lot of thought behind it.

But its hard to argue against the case that Dana should have led. It would have also been nice if she kept the harder edge she had in the premiere,

This problem wouldn't have been there if they all would have been Mitchell's children. Which would have been more true to GoGoV.

I think they should have had Joel be the leader. He was such a whacky character. It would have been fun. The same if they did it for Kelesy.
